CLINTON, S.C. - The Presbyterian College women's tennis team put together a
tremendous performance Saturday, downing Converse by a 7-0 margin.
The Blue Hose now stand at 2-7 on the season.
Things got started off rather well for the young squad as they did not give up a
point in the doubles portion of the match.
Top-seeded Heather Heusel and Paige Oelke won their doubles match over Lindsey
Kelly and Olivia Self 8-0.
Second-seeded Olivia McMillan and Virginia Waldron downed Rachel Wilkes and
Francesca Mayer by an 8-0 count. Megan Davis and Lindsay Krause, playing at the
No. 3 slot, maintained a shutout of Gulnora Yuldasheva and Becky Elam 8-0.
In singles play, Heusel continued her stellar play by keeping Self off the
scoreboard at No. 1, 6-0, 6-0. McMillan gave up a point in the first set, but
won by a commanding 6-1, 6-0 score at No. 2 over Lindsey Kelly.
At the No. 3 slot, Oelke downed Wilkes 6-1, 6-2 while fourth-seeded Davis beat Yuldasheva
6-1, 6-0.
Cara Caruso played at No. 5, winning a 6-1, 6-0 battle against Mayer. Krause
preserved the shutout with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Mary English at No. 6.
The Blue Hose will look to build off the win when they host Mercer tomorrow at
1 p.m.
