CLINTON, S.C. - The Presbyterian College women's tennis team was unable to
win on back-to-back Saturdays after picking up its first Big South win a week
ago, falling 7-0 to Radford at the PC Tennis Complex.
The Blue Hose now stand at 3-12 on the season and 1-3 in Big South play.
in doubles play, Heather Heusel and Paige Oelke teamed up at the top spot to
battle Ivana Tomaic and Mirna Matic. The two nearly pulled off the win before
falling 9-7. Second-seeded Olivia McMillan and Virginia Waldron lost an 8-4
decision to Mia Drobnjak and Sarah Tegner while Daryl Thompson and Megan Davis,
playing at No. 3, dropped an 8-5 contest to Petra Dajevic and Emerald Lauzon.
In singles play, the young PC team pushed Radford to the brink on multiple
occasions.
At No. 3, Oelke lost the first set to Dajevic 6-2 before rallying to force a
third set after picking up a 6-1 victory in the second set. Dajevic was able to
pull out the 6-2 win in the final frame.
Davis, playing at the No. 4 spot, lost a 7-6 heartbreaker in the first set only
to battle back and win the second set 6-3. Matic held on for the win, coming up
with a 10-4 victory in the third set.
At the No. 6 slot, sophomore Daryl Thompson came out of the gate on fire, wining
6-1 over Lauzon in the first set. She nearly recorded the win in the second set
before falling 7-5. In the third frame, Lauzon held on for an 11-9 victory.
Top-seeded McMillan lost 6-3, 6-2 to Drobnjak while Heusel lost 6-2, 6-2 at No.
2 to Tomaic. Cara Caruso dropped a hard fought 6-2, 6-3 match to Tegner at No.
5.
The Blue Hose look to get back on track Thursday, Apr. 1 when Erskine comes to
town for a 3 p.m. match. The contest will be the first ever video streamed for
those fans unavailable to attend. In order to watch the match, fans can log
