CLINTON, S.C. - The Presbyterian College women's lacrosse team hosts
Belmont Abbey Wednesday afternoon at 4 p.m. The contest has been designated
Faculty-Staff Appreciation Day in which selected members of the faculty and
staff will be recognized at halftime of the contest.
The Blue Hose are coming off a loss to a talented Longwood program on Apr. 10.
For the season, Jenna Handshoe leads the team with 25 goals and 11 assists for
36 points. Katie Prisco is second on the team with 15 goals while Brittni
Dulaney and Jordan Newberry each have notched 11 goals for the year.
Dulaney leads the team with 13 assists and has amassed 24 points on the year.
Prisco, Shannon Hartford, Newbery and Lauren Lefeber have each tallied at least
10 points thus far on the season.
Defensive standout Jill Parker has scooped up 23 ground balls to lead the way
while Melinda Vasconcellos is close behind with 22. Goalkeeper Erin McBurnette
is third on the squad with 21 ground balls, most of which have come off good
saves.
Newberry and Laura Meade have each won 19 draw controls. Newberry and
Vasconcellos have each forced 14 turnovers. Lefeber and Mary Honan are tied for
third on the team with 11 caused miscues.
In goal, McBurnette has 89 saves and has stopped 52 percent of the shots faced
against her while Susan England has played one more minute (360) than
McBurnette. England has 86 saves on the year. Each keeper has won a game
between the pipes.
The home game, which starts at 4 p.m., is the second of four straight dates for
the Blue Hose.
