West Earns All-Conference First Team Honor in Back-to-Back Seasons; Currie Named Second Team; Ballard All-Academic

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Big South unveiled its annual women's lacrosse All-Conference rollout on Thursday afternoon, highlighting Presbyterian's Avery West and Emily Currie as First and Second Team selections respectively.

In West's case, the senior from Texas becomes the first player in program history to be voted an All-Conference First-Teamer in two separate years. She is the second individual of the D-I era to be chosen for All-Big South in three total seasons (being a 2nd-team designee in 2024).

Olivia Ballard was PC's representative on the league's All-Academic team, capping off a spring slate where the Blue Hose went 5-12 overall and 2-6 in divisional matches.

Presbyterian has garnered seven All-Big South recipients under head coach Eric Clakeley's tutelage. This is the second consecutive season that PC has had more than one player make the list.

COACH CLAKELEY'S COMMENTS

"There was never any doubt in my mind that Avery was one of the best PC players of all time. Being the second to earn All-Conference three times and the first to earn First Team twice confirms that. She was a great teammate, leader, student, and athlete. It is appropriate that she is also the most decorated player in the history of the program."

"Emily did not blink at any challenges this year. She continued to perform when times got tough and she plays with a relentless effort. We are proud of her accomplishments so far, and look forward to her continuing to grow and build upon them in the coming years."

"Olivia is the definition of a student-athlete. She attacked both domains with a vivacious attitude. Her role on the field often involved supporting others, and she was critical in the 2026 team being the best scoring defense in the program's history. In the classroom, she impressed us with her success and we know she will make us proud in her law school endeavors."

Avery West | Sr. | D | Keller, Texas
2026 All-Big South First Team
2025 All-Big South First Team
2024 All-Big South Second Team

West All-Conference

- West ranked third in the conference with 39 caused turnovers in her final year, adding 43 ground ball pickups which was the fifth-most of any player in the league.

- She beat out her mark of 35 takeaways last spring, causing 23 turnovers in Big South contests along with 26 ground balls in that span as well.

- After holding Manhattan scoreless over the last 11 minutes in the non-conference finale, Avery was named the Big South Defensive Player of the Week for the second time in her career.

- Since joining the program in 2023, West missed just two games out of 67 opportunities. She caused 120 turnovers during her college tenure, one of just two individuals to surpass triple digits in that department.

- West published two season-highs on the same day against Radford, stacking up six ground balls and six caused turnovers. She was responsible for at least three takeaways on six separate occasions.

Emily Currie | So. | ATT | Easton, Md.
2026 All-Big South Second Team

Currie All-Conference

- Currie took an already-impressive freshman season and improved upon it in year two, scoring 20 times over the final six games and totaling 42 goals overall. That's the second-highest goal count in a sole campaign of anyone in program history (matching Willow Hammond's mark from 2025).

- She scored the fourth-most goals in the Big South (already with 77 in her PC career) and averaged nearly three makes per game to go along with nine assists.

- Emily successfully scored on 72 percent of her on-target shots, also ranking second on the roster with 23 draw controls. She found 21 goals against non-conference opponents and 21 more once the schedule flipped to league play.

- Currie inserted two game-winners as a sophomore, the first against Manhattan with 23 seconds on the clock and the other in double-overtime sudden-death to defeat Gardner-Webb on the road.

- She combined for 11 goals in those two games, depositing at least three scores against six different schools.

Olivia Ballard | Sr. | D | Clifton Park, N.Y.
2026 Big South All-Academic Team

Ballard All-Academic

- Penciled in as a starter in 41 straight matches to close her career (a streak that dates all the way back to 2024), Ballard put together a strong 3.89 GPA in the field of Political Science.

- The New Yorker is a two-time member of the Big South Presidential Honor Roll – soon to be a three-time inclusion – and has been named to the PC Dean's List in four different semesters.

- In her senior stint, Ballard offered up 12 ground balls to go with eight caused turnovers and a couple of draw controls.
