GREENVILLE, S.C. - The Presbyterian College men's golf team finished in 18th place (906; 307, 296, 303) at the 42nd Annual Furman Intercollegiate on Sunday.
Freshman William Sigg (Augusta, Ga.) led the Blue Hose with a collegiate best three-round tally of 223 (79, 71, 73). Sigg also set a new collegiate best for a single round (71) during round two.
Senior Rob McRae (Augusta, Ga.) finished the tournament with his best score of the spring at 227 (74, 74, 79). Redshirt junior Evan Phillips (Lexington, S.C.) and senior Kent Crymes (Athens, Ga.) tied with three-day totals of 231. Sophomore Matt Sizemore (Richmond, Va.) showed much improvement on the final day, finishing two-strokes back at 233 (83, 77, 73).
Purdue's William Sjaichudin held on to win by a single stroke with a three-round score of 206 (65, 69, 72). Clemson shot a tournament record 272 during the final round to take the team championship at 848 (287, 289, 272). The Tigers' Thomas Bradshaw shot a tournament record 64 during the final round and finished third overall.
The Blue Hose will return to play, April 10-12, at the 2011 Wofford Invitational in Spartanburg, S.C. The tournament will serve as the final tune-up before the 2011 Big South Men's Golf Championship the following weekend.
