ARNOLD, Md. – The Presbyterian College women's lacrosse team faced off against the Siena Saints on Saturday in a neutral site contest but could not overcome an early Siena run and fell, 19-7.
PC (3-8) outscored Siena (5-4) in the second half in game that featured nearly every member of the Blue Hose.
Three PC players scored multiple goals as Laura Meade (Acworth, Ga.), Kirstin Stenoien (Houston, Texas) and Katie Prisco (West Babylon, N.Y.) tallied two each in the game. Anne Lamb Crosby (Jacksonville, Fla.) also added one.
Anne-Marie Smith (Maitland, Fla.), Rachel Sweeney (Waxhaw, N.C.) and Meade each contributed an assist to the effort.
PC fell behind early as Siena found the net for the first six goals of the game. The Blue Hose broke the run as Stenoien put her team on the board with a goal 18:40 before halftime.
After another Siena run, a Saints foul put Meade in position for a free position attempt. Meade's shot from the 8-meter mark fooled goalkeeper Kristin Concordia, making the score 10-2 and giving the junior her 11th of the year.
Siena took a 15-2 lead into the halftime break but the Blue Hose continued to fight in the second, putting five shots into the net to the Saints' four.
Prisco scored her first of the game just 38 seconds after the opening draw, converting on a chance to bring the PC total to three.
Sweeney connected with Meade 12 minutes later and Meade notched her 12th of the year with 17:10 left in regulation.
Meade then lent a helping hand to Prisco on the next goal of the game, assisting on Prisco's second of the game to make the score 16-5.
Siena scored twice more but PC wasn't finished, as Stenoien scored from a Smith pass with two minutes left before Crosby scored her first of the year on a free position shot in the final minute.
The Blue Hose will stay in Maryland for an exhibition test against Anne Arundel Community College on Sunday at noon.
