SPARTANBURG, S.C. - The Presbyterian College men's golf team is in 14th place after day one of the 23rd Coca-Cola Wofford Invitational at The Country Club of Spartanburg, a par-72 6,648 yard course.
The Blue Hose have a two-round score of 597 (291, 306) and were led by senior Kent Crymes (Athens, Ga.) who tied for 24th at 146 (70, 76). Sophomore Matt Sizemore (Richmond, Va.) tied for 39th with a two-round score of 149 (76, 73). In his first collegiate tournament, freshman Carter Davis (Spartanburg, S.C.) finished day one tied for 44th at 150 (71, 79). Senior Rob McRae (Augusta, Ga.) and redshirt junior Evan Phillips (Lexington, S.C.) finished the first day tied for 69th at 154.
Richmond, who leads the tournament a score of 563, opened the tournament with score 279, tying the tournament record for lowest team opening round score, which was set by Clemson in 1993.
On the individual side, four players are tied atop the leader-board with a two round score of 0f 139. Jacobo Pastor (70-69), Vaita Guillaume (74-65), Kristopher Gray (69-70), and Mark Joye (72-67).
Round three is set to begin with a shotgun start at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at The Country Club of Spartanburg.
