CLINTON, S.C. - The Presbyterian College women's soccer team
fell in a Thursday night tilt to the visiting Wofford Terriers, 4-0.
PC falls to 0-3-0 on the young season while Wofford improves to
3-0-0.
Gracie Boswell (Greenville, S.C.) led the Blue Hose with two shots
on goal and Morgan Fragapane (Baltimore, Md.) added one of her own.
Goalkeeper Sarah Beth Anderson (Grayson, Ga.) made six saves on
the evening, putting her one behind Emily Sinkuler's second-place mark of 199
PC career saves. Anderson currently has 198 saves, 16 shy of Emily Campbell's
record of 214.
Six different members of the Blue Hose recorded a shot against the
Terriers.
PC came out strong after the opening whistle, making runs into
Wofford territory and nearly scoring 11 minutes into the match. Catie Smith (Greenville,
S.C.) lofted a long ball from the right side that bounced off the crossbar to
the waiting feet of Boswell, whose low shot found goalkeeper Erika Christensen.
Kelly Kozera (Rome, Ga.) also displayed an ability to keep
possession under pressure, dribbling through the midfield halfway through the
first frame.
Wofford's Chelsea Ashworth scored in the 27th minute
and Maggie O'Brien followed in the 42nd to take a 2-0 lead into the
halftime break.
Emily Bougas added Wofford's third score on a long run in the 54th
and Mary Kathryn Macklen wrapped the scoring with a long shot in the 71st.
PC nearly cashed in twice in the closing minutes, as Kozera nearly
headed in a Stephanie Allen (Augusta, Ga.) cross but the ball veered left of
the net. Boswell also sent in a chance from close range that Christensen
managed to dive on shortly the ball crossed the goal line.
The women's soccer team returns to action on Tuesday night to host
