CLINTON, S.C. – The Presbyterian College men's tennis team dropped a narrow 4-3 contest to Winthrop on Friday in the team's regular season finale.

PC moves to 11-15 overall and 1-6 in Big South Conference play. Winthrop improves to 10-13 on the year and 3-4 in league action.

The Blue Hose will next head to the Big South Conference Championship that begins on Thursday, April 13, in Asheville, N.C.

PC took a lead after doubles play thanks to a fierce battle at the second flight. William O'Connell (Nadi, Fiji) and Andrew Brigham (Birmingham, England) bested Yuta Hirokawa and Guy Kubi in a marathon match, 9-7. The win followed a third-flight default at No. 3 and PC earned the doubles point.

In singles play, Grayson Mills (Roswell, Ga.) dispatched Guy Kubi at the top flight, 6-2, 6-4. The win moved Mills to 4-2 in Big South matches, extending his hold on the program's single-season Big South singles win record.

Brigham also shored up a 6-2, 6-0 victory over Chase Altieri at the fifth flight. The junior grabbed his fifth season of the season and third in conference play with the result.

Winthrop took four singles matches to edge the Blue Hose. All matches finished in two sets, although Gonzalo Asis (Madrid, Spain) nearly won the opening set against Liran Levy at the sixth flight before falling, 7-6, 6-4.
