AIKEN, S.C. - The Presbyterian College men's golf team was led by freshman Davis Parker's 45th place tie at the Cleveland Golf Palmetto Intercollegiate on Tuesday.
Parker (Augusta, Ga.) shot 226 (76, 72, 78) on the par-70 course and led PC for the second time this season. Sophomore Samuel Jackson (Pelion, S.C.) was tied for 11th after the first round, but he fell back over the next 36 holes to finish one stroke back at 227 (71, 75, 81) and tied for 52nd.
Junior Carter Davis (Spartanburg, S.C.) shot 233 (76, 78, 79) to tie for 74th. Senior Matt Sizemore (Richmond, Va.) tied for 78th at 235 (79, 79, 77). Junior Colt Crymes (Athens, Ga.) shot 236 (73, 84, 79) to tie for 81st. His first round of 73 (+3) tied his collegiate-best for a single round.
Augusta State used a final round of 282 to move past South Carolina and NC State to win the team title by seven strokes. The Jaguars shot 856 (284, 290, 282) compared to the Gamecocks' 863 (287, 283, 293) and the Wolfpack's 864 (284, 287, 293). The Blue Hose finished 16th of 18 teams with a three-round score of 913 (296, 304, 313).
The host Pacers' Matt Atkins won individual medalist honors with a final score of 206 (68, 68, 70) on the par-70 course.
The Blue Hose will return to play at the Furman Intercollegiate from March 21-24.
