Lacrosse Drops Sunday Match to Cincinnati

CLINTON, S.C. – The Presbyterian College lacrosse team dropped a non-conference match to the visiting Cincinnati Bearcats on Sunday afternoon, falling 16-6.

PC moves to 2-2 on the year and next hosts George Mason on Friday at 4 p.m. Cincinnati improves to 3-3.

Cincinnati used a 12-2 halftime lead to secure the win. The Blue Hose matched the Bearcats in second half goals, with four.

Goalkeeper Tay Lyles (Stevensville, Md.) entered the game in the first half and made a career-high 14 saves on 25 shots. Her stops helped limit Cincinnati to 4-13 on free position shots, a tally that included a 3-for-9 mark in the first half.

Maddie Seiloff (Marietta, Ga.) and Margaret Richardson (Maplewood, N.J.) led PC with two goals each. Bonnie Corrigan (Yorktown, Va.) picked up four ground balls—as did Seiloff—and Liz Bedell (Londonderry, N.H.) caused six turnovers. Brianne Ward (Cincinnati, Ohio) controlled three draws.

Cincinnati scored the game's first goals before Richardson scored from the free position to halt the run and PC put on the board at the 13:10 mark. Seiloff picked up PC's second tally of the opening half, potting an unassisted goal with 3:28 left before the break. The Bearcats took a 12-2 lead into halftime.

Jess Goergen (Fayetteville, Ga.) posted a goal 34 seconds in to the second half for PC's third goal of the game. After three Cincinnati goals, PC struck again with Jordan Lack's (St. Augustine, Fla.) first career goal by cashing in on a free position opportunity.

Seiloff followed up by finishing a Brianne Ward cross-crease pass for her 13th goal of the season. Richardson capped PC's scoring with 1:07 remaining on Corrigan's fifth assist of the year.

Freshman Cassie Watters (Chapel Hill, N.C.) made her collegiate debut on Sunday, collecting a ground ball. Junior Megan Schaaf (Ellicott City, Md.) played her first game of the season as well, registering a shot.

Courtney Curtis led Cincinnati with three goals and four assists for seven points. Michelle Platz tallied a game-high four goals.
