FARMVILLE, Va. – The Presbyterian College women's lacrosse team dropped a Big South Conference match on Friday to Longwood on the road, as the Lancers came away with a 21-4 win.
PC moves to 4-8 on the year and 0-3 in Big South Conference play. Longwood improves to 6-7 overall and 3-0 in League action. The Blue Hose return home to host Davidson on Sunday at 2 p.m. on Military Appreciation Day.
Maddie Seiloff (Marietta, Ga.) led PC with two goals on the day. Bonnie Corrigan (Yorktown, Va.) and Jordan Lack (St. Augustine, Fla.) each notched a goal as well. Maggie Richardson (Maplewood, N.J.) collected a team-high five ground balls and Seiloff tied Megan Schaaf (Ellicott City, Md.) with two draw controls apiece.
Bridget Hogan (Charlotte, N.C.) tied a team season-high with 14 saves on the afternoon, seven coming in each half.
Longwood's Kacey Norwood tallied six goals and three assists while Lauren Prasnicki posted two goals and seven helpers.
Longwood jumped out to a quick 5-0 lead in the first 10 minutes thanks in part to three goals from Katie McHugh. Another from Sarah Butler followed at the 9:36 mark before Corrigan struck from the free position to make it a 6-1 game. Lack then found the back of the net from a Richardson assist for PC's second goal of the day.
The Lacners closed the half with three more for a 9-2 lead at halftime.
Four Longwood goals opened the second half. Seiloff then tucked away a free position shot and scored again after two Longwood markers for her 18th and 19th goals of the season. Schaaf set up the second goal, her eighth assist of the season.
Longwood would add six more goals to close the game for the 21-4 final score.
PC tested Christian Acker frequently in the second half, but the Lancer keeper stopped seven shots in the final frame.
