HIGH POINT, N.C. – The Presbyterian College women's lacrosse team dropped its Big South Conference opener at High Point on Thursday, 21-3.
PC moves to 4-6 overall and 0-1 Big South while High Point improves to 5-5 and 1-0. The Blue Hose return home to host Liberty at Martin Stadium on Sunday at 1 p.m.
Maddie Seiloff (Marietta, Ga.), Megan Schaaf (Ellicott City, Md.) and Brianne Ward (Cincinnati, Ohio) each scored a goal for the Blue Hose.
Amanda Lindsey (Peachtree City, Ga.) led PC in draw controls, with two, and Maura Talvacchia (Moorestown, N.J.) caused two turnovers. Bridget Hogan (Charlotte, N.C.) made seven saves—six in the first half—in 44:34 of action.
Kendyl Gardner and Emilie Pugliese each scored four goals for the Panthers.
High Point scored the first six goals of the game before Seiloff potted her 17th goal of the season from the free position to halt the Panthers' run. High Point took a 12-1 lead into halftime.
Schaff beat the Panthers for an unassisted goal at the 20:30 mark of the season half and Ward scored her 21st of the season with 4:24 to go to round out PC's scoring.
Tay Lyles (Stevensville, Md.) made two saves in the second half for the Blue Hose, who committed only five turnovers in the second half.
