HIGH POINT, N.C. – The Presbyterian College women's lacrosse team fell in the quarterfinal round of the Big South Conference Women's Lacrosse Championship presented by Musco Lighting, dropping a 20-3 decision to the top-seeded High Point Panthers at Vert Stadium on Wednesday night.
PC ends its season at 4-14 on the year. High Point improves to 12-5 and will face Winthrop on Thursday in the semifinal.
Freshman Jess Goergen (Fayetteville, Ga.) tallied a pair of goals and an assist in the effort and senior Megan Schaaf (Ellicott City, Md.) scored a goal of her own. Junior Maggie Richardson (Maplewood, N.J.) picked up an assist while junior Bonnie Corrigan (Yorktown, Va.) led PC with three ground balls and two caused turnovers.
Senior Bridget Hogan (Charlotte, N.C.) made five saves in goal, including four in the second half.
High Point led 15-0 at the half but the Blue Hose limited the regular season champions to only five goals in the second.
MacKenzie Carroll notched a goal and six assists for High Point. Sara Kuhlman added five goals and an assist.
Kuhlman scored all five of her goals in the opening period and Carroll helped out on six goals as the Panthers took a 15-0 lead into the halftime break. Kendyl Gardner added three to the team's first-half total.
Schaaf opened the scoring to start the second, using a Goergen assist to score the 18th of her season. After two Allie Foard High Point goals, Goergen scored a pair of back-to-back goals for her 18th and 19th of the year. Richardson assisted on the second for her fourth helper.
From there, High Point closed out the final 12:10 with three goals for the 20-3 final.
