Kersten Legacki hit a towering Grand Slam in the third inning to lead the Presbyterian College softball team to the 8-0 rout of Mount St. Mary's in five innings of play at the Panther Invitational in Atlanta, Ga.

PC improves to 3-4 overall, while Mount St. Mary's drops to 0-3 on the short season. The Blue Hose round out tournament action at 4 p.m., against host school Georgia State.

A scoreless game was broken open in the bottom of the third when the Blue Hose hit back to back singles to put a runner in scoring position. Shelby Petik doubled to left to plate the first run to give PC the early 1-0 lead. After a walk loaded the bases, Legacki, who led the team with two hits and five RBI, hit her fourth home run of the season, this one a four-RBI shot over the right centerfield wall to propel the Blue Hose to 5-0 after three.

PC added a run in the fourth off an Erin Ruff sacrifice hit, and closed out the game after five with two runs. After Hope Rogers, who recorded two hits, doubled to left to lead off the inning, she scored off a Legacki single. Legacki ended the game two batters later, plating off a Blaire Miller single up the middle, her second of two on the day, to give the Blue Hose the 8-0 game-shortened win.

A solid day in the circle for PC, Sydney Seigler (1-1) pitched the entire game, giving up just three hits in the shutout win.

Marian Ruf picked up the loss for Mount St. Mary's, surrendering eight runs off 10 hits, while striking out five. Jessica Greenewald, Rachel Gavigan and Ruf each picked up hits, with all of them singles.
