High Point Hands PC Conference Loss

HIGH POINT, N.C.- A strong second half helped lead the High Point Panthers to a 20-6 win over the Presbyterian College women's lacrosse team on Monday evening at Vert Stadium.

The Blue Hose fall to 3-8 overall and 0-2 in Big South Conference action. The Panthers improve to 4-7 on the year and 2-0 in conference play. 

Katy Richardson (Lake Worth, Fla.) and Kelty Fletcher (Jupiter, Fla.) led PC with two goals apiece. Claire Frase (Fort Mill, S.C.) and Lauren Schaaf (Ellicott City, Md.) each scored one goal for the Blue Hose. 

Lee-Ann Salim (East Islip, N.Y.) recorded 10 saves in goal and had a team-high four ground balls, while Taylor Johnson (Kennesaw, Ga.) won four draw controls.

Allie Foard scored a game-high eight goals for the Panthers. She also led the team with four assists. Emily Meier had four goals, while Kendyl Gardner and Darla Poulin had two apiece. Four other High Point players scored individual goals. 

Tori Dunster had a team-high four caused turnovers and three ground balls for the Panthers. Julia Burns made two saves in her 60 minutes in goal. 

High Point scored the first goal of the game when Gardner took a pass from Foard to score her 100th career goal. 

Richardson put the Blue Hose on the scoreboard with 22:27 to play in the first half to tie it up 1-1, but the Panthers went on to score the next five goals to pull away from the visitors.

Schaaf broke the drought for the Blue Hose when she scored on a free position shot to make it 7-2 with 13:33 to play.

Foard scored her fifth goal of the game for High Point with 8:29 left in the half, but PC closed out the half with three straight goals, one by Frase and back-to-back scores by Fletcher, to cut it to 7-5 at halftime.  

Coming back from the break, High Point scored five quick goals, including three in a row by Meier, to take a 12-5 lead over PC with 23:20 to play. 

Richardson scored her second goal of the contest for PC's only goal of the second half with 22:29 on the clock, but the hosts closed out the game with eight unanswered goals to earn the win.
