FARMVILLE, Va. – The Presbyterian College women's lacrosse team fell to Longwood, 20-4, on Saturday at Longwood Athletics Complex.
The Blue Hose fell to 2-7, 0-1 in the Big South Conference, while Longwood improved to 5-5, 1-0 on the season. PC returns home for a 5 p.m. matchup against Coastal Carolina on Wednesday at Martin Stadium.
Cady Roberts (The Woodlands, Texas) led the Blue Hose with a goal and an assist, while Natalie Barnett (Mint Hill, N.C.), Alexandra Cole (Duluth, Ga.) and Jess Goergen (Fayetteville, Ga.) all contributed a goal.
Katie McHugh led all players with eight goals and an assist, while Sarah Butler added six goals and two assists for Longwood.
Barnett put the Blue Hose on top 1-0 with 22:24 left in the first half, her fourth goal of the season. Longwood answered with five straight goals. Goergen cut the Lancers lead to 5-2 on a free position goal with 11:17 left before halftime.
Longwood then scored two straight before Roberts netted her 12th goal of the season as the Lancers led 7-3. Longwood took a 9-3 lead into the locker room.
Longwood scored 10 straight goals in the second half before Cole scored on a pass from Roberts.
Sophia Cuzzupe (Newtown Square, Pa.) and Lee-Ann Salim (East Islip, N.Y.) split time in goal for the Blue Hose. Cuzzupe collected eight saves, while Salim gathered two.
