CLINTON, S.C. – Central Michigan outscored the Presbyterian College women's lacrosse team 10-5 in the second half and took a 14-7 victory on Sunday at Martin Stadium.
The Blue Hose fell to 3-11 on the year, while the Chippewas went to 4-6 on the season. PC returns to Big South Conference action 2 p.m. Wednesday in Clinton, S.C.
Katy Richardson (Lake Worth, Fla.) led all scorers with four goals for the Blue Hose, while Cady Roberts (The Woodlands, Texas) and Claire Frase (Fort Mill, S.C.) added one assist each.
Riley Huda and Summer Abdalla both netted three goals for Central Michigan, while Ann Schoonover dished three assists.
The Chippewas started the game with two straight goals before Jess Goergen (Fayetteville, Ga.) put the Blue Hose on the scoreboard with a free position goal four minutes into the game.
Central Michigan responded with two more goals before Richardson netted her first goal of the game on a pass from Roberts. The Chippewas held a 4-2 lead at halftime.
Richardson opened the second half with a goal and brought PC within a goal at 4-3. Central Michigan responded with a goal before Richardson completed her hat trick and kept the Blue Hose within one at 5-4.
Central Michigan reeled off six straight goals and opened up an 11-4 lead with 11 minutes remaining in the game.
Richardson ended her scoring day on a goal with 8:48 left in the contest. Lauren Schaaf (Ellicott, Md.) then scored on an assist from Frase that cut the Chippewas lead to 11-6. Frase netted a goal right before the final buzzer sounded, her 13th of the season.
Sophia Cuzzupe (Newtown Square, Pa.) generated five saves between the posts for the Blue Hose.
