Fast Start by Wildcats Sink Blue Hose at Davidson

Davidson, N.C. – The Davidson women's basketball team placed six players in double-figures and cruised to a 83-56 victory over Presbyterian College at John M. Belk Arena on Tuesday morning. The Blue Hose saw three players reach double-figures and were led by Kacie Hall's game-high and season-high 20 points.

How It Happened

Davidson jumped out to a 21-4 lead in the first quarter behind 8-12 (.667) shooting from the floor and 4-6 (.667) three-point shooting over the game's first nine minutes, while PC started the game 0-9 from the floor but a perfect 4-4 from the charity stripe.

Hall then scored nine straight points over 43 seconds to cut the lead to eight points, 21-13, with 34 seconds remaining in the first quarter.

After a layup to end the quarter, the Wildcats opened the second quarter on a 20-0 run to extend their lead to a game-high 30 points, 43-13, at 3:33.

Bria Gibbs then sank a layup to break the PC drought and spark a 7-2 run that cut the lead back to 25 points, 45-20, with 1:27 remaining before halftime. Gibbs recorded four points over the run, and Shamani Stafford added a three-pointer.

At the half, Davidson led 48-22.

The Blue Hose won the third quarter, 17-9, thanks in part to nine points from senior Salina Virola. The forward scored eight consecutive points for PC over a three minute span and added a free throw just before the end of the quarter to make it 57-39.

Hall scored her 20th point of the game with a jumper to start the fourth quarter and cut the lead to just 16 points, 57-41. However, the Wildcats replied with a 16-2 run to grow the lead back to 30 points, 73-43, with 4:50 left in the game.

The teams would trade baskets and free throws down the stretch, with Davidson holding on to win 83-56.
