ROCK HILL, S.C. – The Presbyterian College women's tennis team fell to top-seeded Winthrop, 4-0, on Friday morning the Big South Championship Semifinals in Rock Hill, S.C. The Blue Hose end the season with a 12-9 record.
Winthrop got wins on courts one and three in doubles action to clinch the point. The Eagles then used wins on courts one, three and six to advance to the title match for the 22nd time in program history.
The Blue Hose had won five straight matches entering Friday, its longest winning streak of the year, after finishing the regular season on four-match winning streak, its longest streak to end the regular season in the program's D1 era. PC finishes the year with four Big South regular season wins, a new D1 era program, along with five wins over Big South foes overall, also a record.
PC ends the year with a .571 winning percentage, its best in a season in the Division I era. The previous best came in 2017 and 2015, as the team finished with a 12-11 record for a .521 winning percentage in both seasons. The 12 wins in each of those seasons is tied for the most in a single season in the D1 era, all coming under head coach Catherine Dunagan.
