Rock Hill, S.C. – Kacie Hall connected on three fourth quarter threes to cut Winthrop's lead to one point with under a minute to play, but the Eagles were able to hang on for a 55-52 victory on Saturday afternoon at the Winthrop Coliseum. Hall scored a game-high 24 points and had five threes in the game. Tess Santos recorded a game-high and collegiate-best 13 rebounds.
How It Happened
Presbyterian College jumped out to a 4-0 lead with baskets from Ericka Blackwell-Boyden and Salina Virola in the game's opening minutes.
After a 5-0 Winthrop run gave them a 5-4 lead, the Blue Hose replied with a 10-0 run capped by consecutive three-pointers from Hall to take a 14-5 lead with 2:27 left in the first.
The Eagles went on a 19-4 run that stretched from the first into the second quarter and saw the home team leading 24-18 with 2:38 remaining before the half.
In the third quarter, Shamani Stafford hit three consecutive three-pointers to give PC a 35-33 lead with 5:40 remaining.
Winthrop went on a 9-2 run to start the fourth to build their lead to eight, 51-43, with 5:23 left in the game.
Hall fueled a 9-2 run with three three-pointers to cut Winthrop's lead to just one, 53-52, with 47 seconds left.
After two Winthrop free throws, Maleeah Langstaff was able to steal a three-point attempt from Hall to end the game and secure the 55-52 win.

Notables
Kacie Hall scored 24 points to finish in double-digits for the 14th consecutive game. She was 5-11 (.455) from three. The junior now has 757 career points and surpassed Keyonna Allen (2011-15) for 7th in PC's Division I era.
Tess Santos secured a collegiate-best 13 rebounds to exceed her previous best of eight.
Salina Virola now has 403 career rebounds and surpassed Sherece Smith (2010-14) for 7th in PC's Division I era.
Presbyterian had a slight advantage with 19 points off 18 Winthrop turnovers, while the Eagles scored 18 points off 24 Blue Hose turnovers.
Winthrop's bench outscored PC 23-7.
