Women's Basketball Opens Season at SC State

Clinton, S.C. - The Presbyterian College women's basketball team opens the 2019-20 season on Tuesday, November 5, against SC State beginning at 6:30 pm. The Bulldogs were led by Kemoni Jenkins' game-high 27 points including five three-pointers last season in a 57-48 win at the Templeton Center. Bria Gibbs led PC with a double-double (23 points, 13 rebounds).

Last Time Out
Presbyterian College defeated Augusta in an exhibition, 71-43, with junior Jade Compton leading all scorers with 17 points to go along with six rebounds. Trinity Johnson had 10 points and a team-high six assists.

Head Coach Sharp
Alaura Sharp begins her second season in charge of PC and her seventh season as a head coach. Last season she reached 100 career wins with a 66-58 win at USC Upstate (Feb. 19).

Returning Offense
The Blue Hose averaged 56.7 points per game last season and return 73.5 percent of their offense with Kacie Hall (12.7), Shamani Stafford (9.4), Trinity Johnson (8.0), Bria Gibbs (5.3), Tess Santos (4.4) and Riley Hemm (1.9) still on the roster. Briley Buckner (2.2) also returns to the team after missing last season due to injury. Salina Virola (11.0) and Ericka Blackwell-Boyden (3.1) graduated in May 2019.

Preseason Honors
Senior Kacie Hall was named to the Big South's 2019 Preseason All-Conference Second Team, marking the second consecutive season with preseason honors. Last season she was a Preseason First Teamer and earned Honorable Mention Team honors at the end of the season.

Last Time Out
In their second round loss at No. 1 Radford, the Highlanders set a Big South Tournament record with 38 made free throws on 50 attempts while PC was a perfect 7-of-7 from the charity stripe. Tess Santos (13 points) and Trinity Johnson (12 points) led the Blue Hose in scoring.

Horseshoes and Hand Grenades 
Presbyterian College led the Big South in games lost by single digits last season with 13, including 10 conference games.

Nationally Ranked
Presbyterian College ranked 54th in the nation last season and led the Big South with a 3pt FG percentage of .349 (202-578) thanks in part to Kacie Hall (.415) and Shamani Stafford (.362).

Who Do You Guard?
Presbyterian had three different players sink +5 three pointers in a single game last season: Shamani Stafford (4), Kacie Hall (3) and Tess Santos (1).

Deep Threat
Shamani Stafford was a threat from distance last season, sinking a team-high 71 three pointers with a success rate of .362 (71-196). She sank a program-best seven against Georgia Southern, six against Longwood and had five in road games against Tennessee and Georgia.

Keep An Eye On
Trinity Johnson led the team with 15.7 points, 3.1 assists and 31.6 minutes per game over the final 10 games of last season. Over that span, she also had 4.3 rebounds per game and sank 75-99 free throws (.750).

Cleaning the Glass
Last year's team averaged 35.0 rebounds per game with and improved their rebounding margin by 8.1 rebounds per game (-2.1).

Double-Doubles
After recording zero double-doubles in 2017-18, the Blue Hose posted 10 double-doubles last season. Regrettably, only one returner contributed to that total with Bria Gibbs posting a season-high 23 points and 13 rebounds against SC State (Nov. 20).

Double Digit Streak
Kacie Hall scored +10 points in a program-record 17 consecutive games from November 25 - February 5 last season. During that span, the guard averaged 17.5 points, 3.1 rebounds, 3.1 assists in 36.6 minutes to go along with a 39.4% FG and 43.3% 3pt FG.

The Big 3-0
Kacie Hall scored a career-high 30 points in the team's 71-65 road win at the College of Charleston last season (12/21) to tie the program's Division I single-game record.

Milestones Ahead
Kacie Hall has 156 career three pointers and needs 39 more to catch 4th place, Janie Miles (2014-18). The senior also needs 116 points to reach 1000.
