PC Acrobatics & Tumbling Announces Schedule for Inaugural Season

CLINTON, S.C. – Presbyterian College and head acrobatics & tumbling coach Amber Morrell announced the schedule for the program's inaugural season, which begins in February 2020, on Friday. The Blue Hose are set to compete in six meets, including three home contests.

"As we gear up for our inaugural season, I can't help but be sentimental," said Morrell. "Starting a program from scratch takes a lot of work, patience, and vision, so seeing it come to fruition is very rewarding and special."

"We have a tough schedule, including five-time reigning national champion Baylor, which is forcing our athletes and program to rise to that standard. We want to compete at a high level and our schedule gives us the opportunity to do that."

The first-ever competition in program history is slated for Feb. 23 against Quinnipiac, a national semifinalist in 2019, at the Templeton Center. Presbyterian then heads to Spartanburg on Feb. 29 to face Converse.

PC returns to Clinton on March 9 for a tri-meet against Baylor and Saint Leo. Like the Blue Hose, the Lions are one of four first-year programs competing in the National Collegiate Acrobatics & Tumbling Association (NCATA). The other two first-year programs are Erskine and Mary Hardin-Baylor.

The Blue Hose hit the road for their final two meets of the regular season. PC visits Saint Leo on March 28, then concludes the regular season against Morrell's alma mater, King University, on April 3.

The 2020 NCATA National Championship is slated for April 23-25 and will be hosted by Oregon at Matthew Knight Arena in Eugene, Ore.

"My expectation for our first season is to show everyone what the sport is all about and to compete with confidence," said Morrell. "For an inaugural team, we have a lot to bring to the table, not just with physical ability but the right mindset as well. Our motto all year has been #biggerpicture and #neversettle, and our program and these young women represent this mantra very well."

"We are all very excited and cannot wait to show the PC community what we have been working for these past two years! If you like watching gymnastics, mark your calendars for Feb. 23 for our first-ever meet as we host founding NCATA DI member Quinnipiac!"
