Conway, S.C. – The Presbyterian College softball team dropped a pair of games on Friday afternoon at the Battle of the Beach. The Blue Hose were defeated by Eastern Kentucky 18-1 in five innings in their first game of the day and then fell to host Coastal Carolina 4-0 in the second half of the twin bill.
Alyssa Batastini started in the circle for both games. Against EKU, she pitched two innings, allowing seven runs (five earned) on six hits and three walks. The redshirt junior worked a complete game against Coastal, giving up four runs on seven hits and collecting a pair of strikeouts.
Courtney White, Sarah Ramsbottom, and Taylor Ward relieved Batastini against the Colonels. White pitched the third inning, allowing four runs on three hits. Ramsbottom pitched the next 1.2 innings for the Blue Hose. She gave up six runs (five earned) on three hits and a pair of walks. Ward picked up the last out for PC in the top of the fifth inning and allowed an unearned run.
Presley Bissett picked up her first RBI of the season when she drove home Katelyn Petty in the bottom of the fifth inning against EKU.
The Blue Hose are scheduled to play two more games at the Battle at the Beach tomorrow afternoon. PC will take on Coastal for the second time at 2:00 p.m. and are scheduled to face Marshall at 6:30 p.m. The live stats for those contests can be found here: https://bit.ly/2Doob4O
