Conway, S.C. – The Presbyterian College softball team was defeated in a pair of games played at the Battle at the Beach on Saturday. The Blue Hose were downed by host Coastal Carolina 9-1 in the first game and then fell to Marshall 10-1 in the nightcap. Both games were substantially delayed because of weather and field conditions on Saturday morning.

Taylor Ward started in the circle for PC against Chanticleers. She gave up five runs on two hits and seven walks in three-plus innings of work. She was relieved by Courtney White, who pitched the next two innings. She allowed four runs on three hits and collected a strikeout. Sarah Ramsbottom faced four batters in the bottom of the sixth inning.

Ansley Wilbanks collected a pair of hits against Coastal, driving home the lone run for the Blue Hose when she brought in Chelsea Lyons with an RBI single in the top of the fifth.

Alyssa Batastini got the ball to start against the Thundering Herd in the second game. She worked 1.1 innings, allowing seven runs (six earned) on four hits. White threw the next 1.2 innings, giving up a pair of runs on three hits. Taylor Ward finished the game for PC, collecting the final six outs while allowing only one hit and one run.

White sent a double down the left field line in the bottom of the first inning to score Wilbanks and put PC on the board. Wilbanks put together her second multi-hit game of the day against Marshall.
