Brian Purcell announced that five student-athletes have signed National Letter of Intent to join the Presbyterian women's soccer program in the fall of 2021.
Joining the Blue Hose are Kelly Hall (Suwanee, Ga.), Gwen Keiser (Charleston, S.C.), Abby Spellings (Waxhaw, N.C.), Megan Slattery (Lexington, S.C.) and Sophia Thomson (Johns Creek, Ga.).
"We are excited to add five student-athletes to our program for next season," said Purcell. "They are tremendous both on the field and in the classroom. We cannot wait to get them on campus next fall!"
Kelly Hall – 5-6 – Goalkeeper – Suwanee, Ga. – North Gwinnett HS / Atlanta Fire United ECNL
High School/Club: Played at North Gwinnett HS…Named to the United Soccer Coaches 2020 All-State team…Helped her team win the Class 7A Georgia High School State championship in 2019…Was named the Region Goalkeeper of the Year in 2019…Played club for Atlanta Fire United ECNL.
Personal: Kelly Hall is the daughter of Ellen and Russell Hall…Intends to major in business administration…Chose PC because it feels like home.
Gwen Keiser – 5-8 – Midfielder – Charleston, S.C. – Wando HS / SC Surf NPL
High School/Club: Played varsity soccer for two years with her third coming this spring at Wando HS …Named to the 2019 All-Region Team for Region 7-AAAAA…Helped her team to a runner-up finish at the 2019 SCHSL 5A Girls' Soccer Championships…Was a member of Beta Club…Played club for eight years with SC Surf NPL and was a captain for three years.
Personal: Gwen Keiser is the daughter of Katie and Brian Keiser…Intends to major in business or business management…Chose PC because I knew it was the college for me. Once I stepped onto the campus it automatically felt like the place I wanted to spend the next 4 years of my life. I knew I wanted to go to a smaller college to be able to focus on academics and soccer at the same time. I love the soccer program at PC and the coaches are amazing, as well as the girls on the team. I could not imagine choosing to play at any other college and I am so excited to go to PC!
Abby Spellings – 5-6 – Forward – Waxhaw, N.C. – Cuthbertson HS / Charlotte Independence ECNL
High School/Club: A four-year varsity starter at Cuthbertson HS…Was the team's leading goal scorer as a freshman and sophomore…Ran track & field and was a member of the team that won the NCHSAA Indoor Track & Field State Championships in 2019 and 2020…Member of the Beta Club and National Honors Society…Played club for Charlotte Independence ECNL.
Personal: Abby Spellings is the daughter of Juli and Tony Spellings…Intends to major in psychology and minor in biology…Chose PC because the campus is beautiful and the atmosphere of the team made me feel right at home.
Megan Slattery – 5-7 – Midfielder – Lexington, S.C. – Cardinal Newman HS / SC United ECNL
High School/Club: Played at Cardinal Newman HS…Was an All-Region selection in 2019…A member of the basketball team that won the 2020 SCISA Basketball State Championships…A recipient of the Newman Scholar (earning a GPA of 5.0 or higher)…Played club for South Carolina United ECNL.
Personal: Megan Slattery is the daughter of Melanie and Patrick Slattery…Intends to major in Physics…Chose PC because it has a family like community, it's a small school and it's a place to grow athletically and academically.
Sophia Thomson – 5-7 – Forward/Midfielder – Johns Creek, Ga. – Chattahoochee HS / United Futbol Academy ECNL
High School/Club: A four-year varsity starter at Chattahoochee HS…Was the team's leading scorer in the 2020 spring season…Played club for United Futbol Academy ECNL…A three-time member on the Honor Roll.
Personal: Sophia Thomson is the daughter of Kelly and Scott Thomson…Intends to major in business…Chose PC because it made me feel like home the first time I stepped on campus.
