Men's Tennis Endures Setback at Chattanooga

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – The Presbyterian College men's tennis team fell 6-1 at Chattanooga on Saturday afternoon in its final match before its home opener.

COACH RINCON ON THE MATCH
"Chattanooga got away from us in doubles, then got early leads in singles," said head coach Eduardo Rincon. "We competed hard but couldn't really turn things around. We'll regroup and try to learn as much as we can from these tough road challenges."
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
-  The Mocs took victories at the top two doubles positions to claim the doubles point.
- In singles play, straight-set victories at No. 5, No. 1, No. 2 and No. 6 clinched the match victory for Chattanooga.
- PC took the first set at No. 4, but the hosts rallied to pick up the win.
- Oscar Alvarez claimed the lone win for the Blue Hose in singles play, winning in three sets at the No. 3 position.
 
NOTABLES
- With his win at No. 3, Alvarez improved to 3-0 in singles play this season.
- The doubles team of Max Benson and Nicholas McKinney won 7-5 at No. 3 doubles for PC. The duo is 2-0 in doubles play.
 
UP NEXT
Presbyterian returns to Clinton on Friday, Feb. 7, for its home opener against Belmont Abbey. The Blue Hose and Crusaders are set to play a doubleheader beginning at 11 am.
