Women's Tennis Prepares For Pair of Matches Beginning Thursday

CLINTON, S.C. – The Presbyterian College women's tennis team gets set for a busy weekend as they travel to Winthrop for a 2 pm match against the Eagles. PC will be on the courts against Western Carolina on Friday afternoon for a 2 pm start in Clinton. Both of these matches are rescheduled matches due to weather earlier this season.

MATCHUP: Presbyterian (0-7) at Winthrop (3-7)
TIME: Thursday, March 12, 2 pm
LOCATION: Rock Hill Tennis Center (Rock Hill, S.C.)

MATCHUP: Presbyterian (0-7) vs Western Carolina (0-9)
TIME: Friday, March 13, 2 pm
LOCATION: Templeton Tennis Courts (Clinton, S.C.)

COACH ROBERTS ON THE WEEKEND
"We are excited to finally get back on the courts and compete beginning on Thursday at Winthrop," commented head coach Joel Roberts. "It's been a good little break with all of the weather but I know the team is ready to go and start league play this weekend."
 
THE OPPONENTS
- Winthrop comes into play on Thursday with a 3-7 record following a 4-3 victory over Campbell in its last on-court action. The Eagles are slated to play Gardner-Webb on Wednesday before hosting the Blue Hose on Thursday afternoon.
- Winthrop has taken all 12 of the prior meetings in the Blue Hose D1 history as the Eagles picked up a 7-0 win against PC last year in Clinton.
- Western Carolina enters with an 0-9 record following a 5-2 setback against Chattanooga last Saturday. The Catamounts are set to travel to Durham to face NCCU on Thursday before making the trip to Clinton on Friday.  
- The Blue Hose holds a 5-2-1 record all-time against the Catamounts. WCU earned a 4-3 win over Presbyterian in Cullowhee, N.C. during the 2018 spring season in the last match between both teams.

LAST TIME OUT
- Senior Beth Taylor earned her second consecutive singles straight-set decision last time out as Chattanooga earned a 6-1 victory over the Blue Hose at the Templeton Tennis Courts.  
- With the win at No. 3 singles, Taylor now is tied for third in the Blue Hose D1 record book for career singles wins as she earned her 42 victories on Saturday.

UP NEXT
- Following Friday's match with Western Carolina, the Blue Hose will travel to Spartanburg on Wednesday, March 18 to battle with USC Upstate with first serve set for 2 pm.
