Women's Soccer Returns Home to Face Winthrop

CLINTON, S.C. – The Presbyterian College women's soccer team returns home for just the second time during the 2021 spring slate as the Blue Hose welcome in Winthrop for a 7 p.m. kick at Martin Stadium. Thursday night's game will be broadcast on ESPN+.

SERIES HISTORY
- The Blue Hose and Eagles will meet on Thursday for the 13th time in the Presbyterian DI era as Winthrop holds a 9-2-1 edge all-time in the series with PC. Winthrop earned a 2-0 win in Rock Hill last season and  also won 2-0 in 2018 in Clinton.
 
SCOUTING THE EAGLES
- Winthrop enters Thursday's match with a 2-2 record following a 2-0 win over UNC Asheville in the Eagles most recent action. In the win, Ashlynn Harris recorded eight saves.
- Winthrop also has a 3-1 win over USC Upstate on its record so far this spring.
- Laurin Uptegrove leads the Eagles with two goals, while three others have tallied a goal so far this spring.
- Ashlynn Harris has played all four games in net for the Eagles as she's recorded 24 saves and a shutout so far this season.
- Spencer Smith is in his 11th season at the helm of the Winthrop women's soccer program.
 
LAST TIME OUT
- In the Blue Hose last game action, The Presbyterian College women's soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision against Gardner-Webb on Saturday night from Greene-Harbison Stadium. Jada Newton scored the lone goal of the match in the 15th minute.
 
IN ELITE COMPANY
- Head coach Brian Purcell is in his 32nd season at the helm of the PC women's soccer program. Only six other coaches in NCAA history have coached for 30+ years with the same school, and Purcell is one of only three coaches to still be the only coach in program history. North Carolina's Anson Dorrance has spent 44 seasons with the Tar Heels, and Jerry Smith has spent 36 seasons with Santa Clara.

- The Blue Hose return to the field on Sunday afternoon at 4 p.m. when the travel to Buies Creek to face Campbell.
