Lacrosse Welcomes Gardner-Webb on Friday for Home Opener

Clinton, S.C. – The Presbyterian College lacrosse team welcomes Gardner-Webb to Bailey Memorial Stadium on Friday for their home opener beginning at 7 pm. The Blue Hose will then travel to Lee for a 2 pm game on Saturday.

Scouting the opponents | Series Histories
Gardner-Webb has lost four consecutive games after starting 2-0. They recently fell to Kennesaw State by a narrow margin, 14-12. Their last win came against Akron, 16-8, on February 26. Talen Francis leads the team with 21 points (17g, 4a).

This is the first of two scheduled games between PC and GWU and has been rescheduled from March 17. It will count as a Big South matchup, while the April 7 game will be considered a non-conference game.

This will be the seventh matchup in the series. Gardner-Webb holds a 4-2 advantage and has won the last two meetings. There was no game in 2020, but the Runnin' Bulldogs picked up a 20-12 victory in 2019.

The Lee women's lacrosse team won their program-best fifth consecutive game on March 21, defeating the University of Montevallo 15-10. Dariana Blanton scored a game-high six goals on eight shots. The Flames are a Division II opponent from the Gulf South Conference. It is the first meeting in program history.

Last Time Out
Presbyterian dropped a road game to Akron, 16-2. Captains Sarah Marshall and Kelly Hyman recorded goals in the loss. Marshall collected two more points (1g, 1a) to extend her goal streak to 21 games and point streak to 26 games.

- Senior Sarah Marshall sits at 97 career points (74g, 23a) with streaks of 21 (goal) and 26 games (point).
- Marshall trails Lauren Schaaf (108 points) for sixth in career points and Lauren Lefeber (77 goals) for sixth in career goals for PC.
- Sophomore Abby Edmisten's six points (4G-2A) against Wofford (2/25/21) bested her previous collegiate-high of four points (2G-2A) recorded against Kennesaw State (2/29/20) her freshman year.
-Eric Clakeley enters his second season as the head coach of the Presbyterian College lacrosse team. In his first season at the helm, the Pennsylvania native went 2-5 before the season was cut short due to COVID-19.

Captains
Two of the most experienced players in seniors Kelly Hyman and Sarah Marshall will serve as the team's captains for the 2021 season.

Schedule Changes
Presbyterian's home game against Lander has been rescheduled as a road game on April 10 at 5 pm in Greenwood.

Presbyterian will welcome Wofford to Bailey Memorial Stadium on Wednesday, March 31, for a 3 pm matchup. The Blue Hose defeated the Terriers 16-9 in Spartanburg on February 25.
