NEWBERRY, S.C. – The Presbyterian Blue Hose (1-0) behind three singles and two doubles wins defeated the Newberry Wolves, 4-3, on the road in their first dual match of the season.
 
DOUBLES
Presbyterian behind wins at number one and two doubles captured the doubles point. At number one doubles, Presbyterian's Javier Matos and Sebastian Dominguez cruised over Newberry's Mateo Bivol and Leo Zancheta, 6-0, at number one doubles. At number two doubles, Presbyterian's Teo Cariov and Daniel Martens topped Newberry's Marcel Schomborg and L. Grabia, 6-3, to clinch the doubles point for the Blue Hose.
 
SINGLES
Presbyterian won three singles matches to claim the overall victory. Matos got the Blue Hose off to a strong start with a 7-6, 6-1 win at number three singles. At number six singles, Martens posted a 6-2, 7-6 win. Newberry cut Presbyterian's lead to 3-1 with a win at number five singles. Then, Pedro Cardoso clinched the victory for the Blue Hose with a 7-6 (7-1), 6-1 win at number four singles. Newberry won at number one and two singles in three hard-fought sets.
