GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Presbyterian College women's basketball team used a 15-2 overtime session to take down the host UNC Greensboro on Wednesday night by the score of 67-54 at Fleming Gymnasium. Mara Neira led all scorers with 19 points, while Tilda Sjökvist added 16 points and Christina Kline tallied 11 points to help pace the Blue Hose to the overtime victory.

"It was a really good win for our team tonight. I thought we overcame some rough stretches offensively in the fourth quarter and showed great toughness continuing to defend and rebound. It was good to see us knock down some shots from the perimeter. We will utilize this game to build our confidence going forward."
Scoring the Game
- The Blue Hose got out to the fast start with early baskets from Neira and Núria Cunill before a three from the Spartans cut it to a 4-3 game at the 7:48 mark of the first quarter. Neira led the Blue Hose on an 8-1 spurt over the next five minutes which pushed the advantage to eight, 12-4. UNCG responded with eight straight of its own before a late layup for PC gave the Blue Hose a 14-12 lead after one.
- PC continued to keep the pressure on the Spartans to open the second with the quarters first six points to extend it to an eight-point lead at 20-12 with 7:18 to play in the half. UNCG was able to whittle the deficit to six, 23-17 before back-to-back layups from PC extended it to a 27-17 lead with 3:40 to go in the quarter. The hosts used a quick four points to cut it to 27-21 late in the half before both teams started draining threes with the Blue Hose connecting on two from Sjökvist to make it 33-24 late. Both teams got on the scoreboard late in the half with PC holding a 34-26 edge after the opening 20 mins.
- The Spartans began the second half on an 8-3 run to cut the Blue Hose lead to 37-34 with 6:22 to play in the third quarter forcing PC to call a timeout. PC answered with a 5-0 burst from Neira along with a triple from Kline to push it to a 42-34 advantage. The Spartans scored the games next four points before Sonia Sato's three in the final minute made it 45-38 after three quarters.
- In the fourth quarter, the two teams traded early points before both teams traded throws pushing the Blue Hose lead to 50-42 with 6:21 to play. In what was a cold shooting fourth for both teams, UNCG closed the final six minutes on a 10-2 run to force overtime as PC had to defend a late burst from the Spartans. UNCG was 5-of-16 as the Blue Hose shot just 2-of-7 in the final quarter.
- In the extra session, the Blue Hose started quickly with a Bryanna Brady layup followed by Kline connecting on a three to make it 57-52 with 3:35. UNCG connected on the next two points and PC would keep them off the scoreboard the rest of OT with a 10-0 run to down the Spartans 67-54 in OT on Wednesday night.

- Neira led all scorers with 19 points as she connected on 7-of-12 shooting and also made 3-of-6 from beyond the arc. Sjökvist added 16 points, five rebounds and four assists, while Kline tallied 11 points as she buried three from beyond the arc. Brady led the Blue Hose on the glass with seven as Neira and Cunill each added six boards. Neira also led PC with five assists. Faith Price led UNC Greensboro with 12 points as Akira Wiggins added 10 for the Spartans. Khalis Cain led all players on Wednesday with 12 rebounds. Wiggins led the hosts with three assists.

- The Blue Hose went 24-of-58 (41.4%) from the floor as UNCG was held to 25.6% going 20-of-78 from the field. PC matched its season-high with nine threes as the Spartans connected on seven from beyond the arc. The hosts were 7-of-9 at the foul line, while PC went 10-of-16 from the charity stripe. The Blue Hose controlled the glass on Wednesday with a 50-44 edge on the boards. The Spartans held a slight edge with a 22-20 lead in points in the paint as both teams scored 10 fast break points. PC handed out 15 assists as UNCG tallied 10 helpers.

- Neira led the Blue Hose with 19 points marking her fourth game of the season that she's eclipsed 17+ points. She also added a season-high six defensive rebounds and dished out a season-best five assists.
- Sjökvist posted her career-high with 16 points on an efficient 5-of-7 shooting making a pair of threes.
- She matched her career-high with five rebounds and handed out four assists. The Huskvarna, Sweden native also added a pair of steals to her stat line that saw her play a career-high 35 minutes.
- Kline matched her career-high as she tallied an 11-point performance for her best in a Blue Hose uniform making three three-pointers on Wednesday night.
- Cunill matched her season-high with six rebounds as five of those came on the defensive glass.
- As a team, the Blue Hose tied their season-high with nine threes as they also pulled down a season-high 50 rebounds.
- On the defensive end, PC held the Spartans to 25.6% which marks the lowest field goal percentage allowed by the Blue Hose throughout the first seven games of the season.
- Wednesday marked the first overtime win for the Blue Hose since Feb. 8, 2020 that saw Presbyterian defeat Longwood 82-77 in Farmville.
