During the offseason, the Presbyterian College men's basketball program will post Getting to Know interviews. This week's interview features sophomore guard Marquis Barnett.
 
Last season, he was named to the Big South Conference All-Freshman team. He collected five double-figure scoring games which all came against Big South Conference foes. He grabbed at least five rebounds in six games. He scored a season-high 17 points on 7-for-12 shooting from the field against Campbell (March 2) in the Big South Conference Tournament. In the 2021-22 season, he averaged 7.5 points and 3.1 rebounds per game.

If you could play another sport in college what would it be: Baseball
The toughest thing about being a student-athlete: Being able to consistently balance doing your work in the classroom and on the court.
Does your jersey number have any meaning: I am my parents' first born child so that is why I wear number one.
Why did you choose to come to PC: I really loved Coach Ferrell's plan. Coach and I have the same vision. He wants the best for me so why wouldn't I want to play for someone that wants the best for me.
One word to describe your style of play: Versatile
What are the team's goals for the season: Win the Big South Conference and go to the NCAA Tournament. We know what it takes to accomplish that. Once we stay consistent in our work and trust in the coaching staff's plan, I feel like we can accomplish those goals.
What part of your game have you been working on over the offseason? Ballhandling and guard work.
Pregame Rituals: Pray before every game and listen to music to get into the zone.
Hidden Talent: I am really good at Call of Duty: Warzone.
What is your major?: Sociology.
