Softball Scribes Six to 2024 Signing Day Class

CLINTON, S.C. – Presbyterian College softball head coach David Williams has announced a string of six soon-to-be newcomers to the Blue Hose family, formally introduced as part of Signing Day festivities on Thursday morning.

The 2024 additions were unveiled in the wake of a 25-22 campaign this past spring, Williams' fifth in Clinton as he passed the 100-win threshold to further increase his grip as being PC's winningest head coach of the Division I era (since 2008).

"We are extremely excited about the addition of each one of these young ladies to our softball program", exclaimed Williams, who has officially earned 103 W's since assuming the role in 2019. "Each one brings a unique skill set that further enhances our roster and provides depth. We look forward to the contributions they will make during their careers as a Blue Hose."

 
Baxleigh Arnette

Arnette has enjoyed a fantastic career at Pee Dee Academy in the infield, compiling a .410 batting average next to an on-base percentage of .580. Thus far in her prep career with the Eagles, she has collected 118 hits (56 of the extra-base variety) while sending 10 past the fence, nine triples, and 37 doubles. Additionally, Arnette has earned a walk 57 times beside 78 RBI, contributing to a .980 fielding clip. After being named an SCHSL All-State honoree in 2022, she was named All-Region this past year while going on to play for Team USA 18u en route of a club championship.

A National Honor Society member, Baxleigh grabbed the third-highest grade-point average in her class for the 2022-23 school year and intends to major in Biology once arriving in Clinton. Having designs on becoming a doctor in radiology, she is the daughter of Timmy and Caren Arnette.

Audrey Burton

An all-region performer in each of her three seasons at Jefferson High School, Burton has mustered a .390 BA over her past two years with 11 home runs, 52 scores batted in, 17 doubles, and eight triples for the Dragons. Also lettering in basketball, she is a two-time champ with Colorado Sparker and was a Blitz NE player of the year nominee. Prior to her signing on the dotted line for the Blue Hose, Burton was ranked the 20th-best third-baseman nationally.

The daughter of Andy and Cheryl Burton, Audrey plans on majoring in Medical Physics at Presbyterian with ambitions of becoming an anesthesiologist assistant once her college career has concluded.

Olivia Goforth

Another Presby signee with a high school batting average hovering around the .400 mark, Goforth has landed an All-District designation three consecutive times which extended to an All-Conference nod in 2023. Boasting a .486 on-base ratio as a southpaw, Olivia guided the Wildcats to a regional runner-up appearance in '22 while also competing with the tennis and track & field programs at WSHS. There, she was a conference champion in the latter and a player of the year winner for the former.

Goforth intends on enrolling in classes with a Pre Health Science major after inking the deal with PC, aiming for a post-school career in physical therapy. Olivia is the daughter of Rick and Jackie Goforth.

Grace Kelley

Glascock County High School | Mitchell, Ga.
 
Among the top five percent in her graduating class at Glascock County High School – while receiving a GA Certificate of Merit – Kelley will join a Presby pitching group with loads of potential after putting together 304 strikeouts and a .685 ERA this past season. Hurling for the Panthers, she has been declared a First Team All-Region athlete with each passing season while being selected as the Region Player of the Year and a First Team All-State recipient in 2023. Through her prep tenure, Kelley has acquired 59 personal victories and 834 K's, balancing her abilities on the diamond with a basketball stint as well.

Grace intends on a Business major at Presbyterian with an aim on giving back to the game as a private pitching instructor. She was included on the President's Honor Roll at GCHS while spending leisure time with the Beta club, the daughter of Chris and Ashley Kelley.

Sabrina Rose

An ambidextrous swinger at Cabell Midland High School, Rose gathered a batting average of .353 through the previous spring slate while spending the majority of her time behind the plate. As a freshman for the Knights, Sabrina's squad captured the state title. She'd follow up with a runner-up placement two seasons later while averaging a pop-up catch time of 1.98 seconds.

Business Management will be the area of interest for Rose upon her Blue Hose arrival, a National Honor Society member while at CMHS. She is the daughter of Anthony and Jamie Rose.

Lanie Ruscoe

The sixth and final signee to the softball program's busy day of recruiting, Ruscoe comes to PC as a dual threat weapon on both sides of the field. As a batter at North Carolina Cyber Academy, she produced a sizzling .531 hitting clip while slugging .775, not to mention 27 stolen bases next to a .607 on-base percentage. Not to be outdone when in the circle, she retired 201 batters on a .150 opposing average when starting at the pitcher's spot. While tearing it up at NCCA, she juggled duties in MMA, Jiu-Jitsu, kickboxing, and barrel racing.

Well on her way to gaining Honor Roll status four years running, Lanie has engaged in over 1,000 hours of community service and intends to major in Business Management while under the Blue Hose umbrella. With an ambition of owning her own coaching facility and helping young athletes, she is the daughter of Joe and Melanie Ruscoe.
