HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. – The Presbyterian College women's golf team opened the Low Country Intercollege on Friday sitting in a tie for 10th in the event at Hilton Head. The Blue Hose were led by freshman Alina Shchepteva who posted an opening round of 80. The three-day, 54-hole tournament is hosted by Wofford on the par-72, 6,009-yard Moss Creek Golf Club in Hilton Head Island, S.C.
UNC Asheville leads after 18 holes as the Bulldogs posted a 311 on Friday holding a one-shot lead over Elon and Asheville is four clear of Columbia. Annabelle Ackroyd of Elon and Madyson Gold of Asheville are tied for the lead in the individual championship as both posted a 73 (+1) on Friday.
FIRST ROUND RESULTS
- Shchepteva opened the tournament with a first round of 80 to begin the festivies on Hilton Head. The Blue Hose freshman grabbed her lone birdie of the event on the par-four 9th hole to close out her round while also tallying nine pars. Shchepteva sits in a tie for 24th after Friday's round.
- Freshman Mariana Polakova posted an opening round 82 highlighted by a birdie on the 11th holes. Polakova added eight pars to her scorecard and sits in a tie for 39th after 18 holes.
- Classmate Taylor Reaves opened with an 82 as she grabbed a birdie on the 17th hole and also added six pars. Reaves similar to Polakova is tied for 39th after Friday's action.
- Sofia Carles recorded an opening round of 83 as she poured in back-to-back birdies on the 16th and 17th holes along with six pars. Carles is tied for 56th after the opening round.
- Sarah Boteler rounded out the lineup for PC with an 87 in the first round. She grabbed a pair of birdies on the third and 10th holes while also pouring in six pars including four in a row down the stretch of her round. Boteler is tied for 83rd after the first 18 holes.
NOTABLES
- As a team, the Blue Hose tied for the most birdies by any team on Friday as PC matched Seton Hall with seven birdies.
- Polakova was one of just 13 golfers on Friday to play the courses four par-fives at level par or better.

- PC continues the tournament on Saturday with tee times beginning at 8:32 off the opening from Hilton Head. The pairings are in eight-minute increments and the Blue Hose will be joined by Richmond and Western Michigan in the second round.
