CLEMSON, S.C. – In the penultimate nonconference event of the 2023 campaign for the Presbyterian Lacrosse squad, head coach
Eric Clakeley and the Blue Hose unravel a brand-new series against a first-year program on the road. The Clemson Tigers await PC for a 4:00 p.m. start on Wednesday, promising an enthralling inaugural duel between Palmetto State foes and a top-25 opponent on Presbyterian's radar.
Riding high going into the introductory bout against Clemson thanks to a pair of one-goal victories at Akron and Kent State in the middle of last week, coach Clakeley's group runs into the Tigers at 3-3 overall on the downhill swing of pre-Big South dates. Meanwhile, the first-year Clemson program looks anything but a start-up squad over one month into the campaign, climbing to eight wins and a #22 slot in the latest IWLCA national poll.
WHAT: Presbyterian (3-3) at No. 22 Clemson (8-3, 1-2 ACC)
WHEN & WHERE: Wednesday, March 22 (4:00 p.m.) – Clemson, S.C.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
- One of seven Atlantic Coast Conference schools to be represented in the latest nationwide rankings, head coach Alison Kwolek's Tigers have exploded out of the gates in their introduction to the sport, accumulating a minimum of 18 goals in each of their seven nonconference contests which have coincidentally all occurred against fellow Big South members.
- Holding down a 6-1 record when competing on their home turf – with the lone defeat coming at the hands of #7 Boston College last week – Clemson was last seen dismantling Radford in a 23-2 decision on Sunday, already their fourth win of the semester by 20 points or more.
- Kwolek (after departing Richmond with a 64-16 record in nearly a decade) has guided the Tigers to a top 25 triumph over Duke in their lone ACC victory to this point (11-10 on March 11), signifying a mountainous task for the Blue Hose against perhaps the most hazardous offensive attack they've come in contact with this season.
LAST TIME OUT
- Aided by the second Big South Offensive Player of the Week selection by senior
Abby Edmisten in the past month thanks to an 8-point collection in the aforementioned Ohio wins, Presbyterian has more than earned a reputation of pulling out their best performances in close-quarter situations behind all three of their W's by a margin of one.
- Nearly a week ago in their last matchup at Kent State, the Blue Hose overcame a sluggish defensive start that included a combined 11 goals in the first 15 minutes to achieve a gritty victory by an 11-10 clip, limiting the Golden Flashes to just three scores in the final 45 minutes of action for their second win in a period of three days in hostile territory.
- Nearly 70% of PC's 161 attributed shots have landed on-target through the first six meetings, led in scoring by the trio of Edmisten/
Willow Hammond/
Kylie Sullivan with 38 strikes amongst themselves. Hammond and Edmisten have accounted for 11 of Presbyterian's 15 assists thus far, while sophomore keeper
Naomi Lauderbaugh made an instant impact when substituting in over the final three periods of the KSU result by garnering four saves out of seven attempts.
