RADFORD, Va. – Riding high off the program's first win in a Big South Conference opener since the 2011 campaign, the Presbyterian College lacrosse team aims for another slice of history this Saturday in a visiting environment. Should the Blue Hose knock off Radford at 11:00 a.m. on the opening day of April, it would denote the first time in school history claiming consecutive league wins, a feat at their grasp after a major victory on Wednesday versus Wofford.
Multiplying their entire win count from the 2022 slate with eight meetings still in front of them, PC (4-5, 1-0) looks to keep up their momentum from the aforementioned 12-8 W over the Terriers at Bailey Memorial Stadium, the site of their next two dates once the weekend excursion in Virginia has passed.
With one conference matchup in the rearview mirror, and a vastly successful one at that, the Blue Hose will search for their second all-time win against the Highlanders that would put an end to a five-game win streak in the series from the other side. Last year's Clinton encounter was the closest margin of said sequence, a 13-10 result that entailed a combined seven goals in the 4
th quarter.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
- While the Highlanders' three-under .500 resume doesn't immediately capture a great deal of significance, especially considering Wednesday's 15-4 defeat at the hands of Campbell, one only need a quick glance at Radford's layout to determine all three of their W's have occurred when home-field advantage swayed in their favor.
- Victories by respective scores of 13-11 against Kennesaw State, 16-11 over Delaware State, and most recently a 14-3 drubbing versus Akron have pushed Radford to the status of a formidable foe when competing in their own backyard. However, inconsistencies have plagued head coach Samantha Hurley's squad, failing to reach double digits in the scoring column in all but one of their six losses.
- Presbyterian shares four mutual opponents between their Saturday adversary (the Zips, DSU, Xavier, and nationally-ranked Clemson), with Radford reaching just 36 total goals compared to 75 amassed by the Blue Hose. The two sides are nearly even in shots per contest, PC again holding the edge at 23-21 in that department.
LAST TIME OUT + BLUE HOSE BACKGROUND
- A celebratory result came the Blue Hose's way in the middle of the week after running roughshod through Wofford over the first 30 minutes of action, lining up a streak of six consecutive strikes that spanned 29 minutes to put the Terriers to bed early.
- Sophomore attacker
NaQuia Hall, the latest of head coach
Eric Clakeley's offensive starters to blossom at this crucial stage of the season, turned in the fifth performance of the semester by a PC player with four goals in a single game, producing one score in each period as the team overall landed a trio within each 15-minute session.
- Presbyterian exceled in nearly every facet of the game against Wofford, racing out of the gates in conference terrain with seven different scorers and six assisted goals. Additionally, the four-score W wouldn't be complete without the mention of freshman keeper
Lilly Phillips, who submitted arguably her best effort under the lights with 11 saves, seven of which came in the opening frame.
- Coach Clakeley's unit simultaneously achieved a season-high in offensive output and a season-low scores given up on the defensive end, hoping to maintain that momentum for their second instance of back-to-back wins on the year.
-
Kylie Sullivan,
Willow Hammond, and
Abby Edmisten have combined to gather 51 of PC's 75 goals through nine games, the latter's 21 good enough for a fifth-place standing among all Big South individuals. All three rank inside the conference's top 10 in shots per outing, the core of a Blue Hose offense that has compiled a shot-on-goal percentage of .714.
