PC Visits Mercer Tomorrow for Second-to-Last Regular Season Meeting

MACON, Ga. – Hitting the final week of the 2023 campaign with a two-game layout in Big South territory that will test their might, the Presbyterian College lacrosse team aims to be the ones to rain on Mercer's parade tomorrow evening in the Peach State, going head-to-head with the Bears at 4:00 PM. The Blue Hose aim to put an end to an MU eight-game winning streak at Five Star Stadium, broadcasted live on ESPN+.

Winning the inaugural encounter between the two schools as the Bears entered the conference in 2015 – a one-goal thriller in Clinton – Presbyterian has exited on the short end of each matchup since that point against a program that has rapidly risen to a higher level over the past two years.

Head coach Eric Clakeley's group will play the visitors' role for the final time this spring on Wednesday, a designation they've been dealt with 10 times since February. Following tomorrow's skirmish in Macon, the Blue Hose will wrap up their regular season slate over the weekend for Senior Day versus Furman, currently tied for fifth-place in the latest league standings.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
- In possession of the most impressive resume of any of the 10 Big South member institutions, Mercer has blazed an undefeated path through their league lineup while boasting one of the nation's best offensive attacks. Head coach Samantha Eustace has her club ranked 11th in NCAA Division I at 23 goals per contest, a mountainous task for opposing defenses to combat.

- Not only have the Bears been elite in the game's most important number, but their back line has been just as formidable by posting an average of nine scores allowed per date, ranking 14th in the country. Mercer forces 13 takeaways per contest, trailing only Campbell (the other unbeaten Big South rep for now) for the national lead in that category.

- Totally dominant in each conference bout, enough that their total goal difference reads 141-48 over their last seven outings, the Bears have won all of their divisional affairs by a minimum of 11 strikes. Led by Shannon Urey's 67 scores, PC's Wednesday foe has reached a 20-point collection six different times this semester, claiming last season's conference tournament crown and picking up 27 victories over the past two years. Mercer last tasted defeat at the hands of #8 Florida five weeks ago.

LAST TIME OUT
- Two games back of what would be a first-time berth in the Big South Tournament, a postseason that only allows four entries out of a 10-team league, the Blue Hose were forced to endure a lightning delay at Longwood over the weekend that lasted nearly three hours after already playing two full frames. The result was a drastic halt in pace and an 11-6 setback to the Lancers on Saturday.

- Presbyterian tallied their highest single-quarter scoring output of the contest in the 4th, although a minus-two difference in that same window, coupled by a three-score hole going into that last stanza, ended things in Farmville with PC now sporting a 3-4 league resume.

- The weekend defeat wasn't without its high points, however, namely from another potential history-maker by senior Abby Edmisten. The fourth-year midfielder will enter tomorrow's duel with 158 career points and 128 goals, just one away from tying the all-time school record for the former and seven away from equaling the record in the latter.
