CLINTON, S.C. – The final appearance on the field in the collegiate careers of
Madison Foti,
Tayler Hofmeister,
Paige Gacek,
Emily French,
Kendall Goldfarb,
Sophie Sullinger,
Ava Ward, and
Taryn Tomas will occur this Saturday at Bailey Memorial Stadium as the Presbyterian College lacrosse team finishes out the campaign in a hosting capacity against Furman. Opening draw versus the Paladins is scheduled for 1:00 PM on Saturday for game 17 of 17 on the semester.
In pursuit of their first ever victory over their Greenville neighbors spanning five prior meetings, head coach
Eric Clakeley and co. will look to send that special group of seniors out on a high note for what would be their seventh win of the spring – a number that'd expand on what's already been a program-best for overall win percentage.
Currently at 3-5 in Big South matchups – which sends them into a three-way tie alongside Wofford and Gardner-Webb for the no. five spot in the latest league standings – the Blue Hose will end a streak of four consecutive visits to Furman on Saturday, denoting their first time hosting the Paladins since the programs' inaugural encounter in 2015.
WHO: Presbyterian (6-10, 3-5) vs. Furman (9-7, 6-2)

SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
- Perhaps in the middle of their most effective scoring outburst in all of 2023 if purely looking at statistics, the Paladins will head to Clinton off the back of their best two-game series yet by beating Gardner-Webb and Wofford behind 45 combined goals. Downing the Runnin' Bulldogs by six and the Terriers by 10, Furman has mustered at least 19 scores in four separate conference outings.
- Head coach Kirkland Lewis' club has only tasted defeat in league territory at the hands of current no. two seed Campbell (by one) and Mercer by only five, a minor consolation even in a loss considering how dominant the conference-undefeated Bears have been in '23. The Blue Hose themselves know a thing or two about Mercer's flexes, having lost a 20-4 decision in Macon over their most recent date.
SENIOR DAY
- Presbyterian will honor the contributions given to the program by their eight aforementioned seniors in a pregame ceremony beginning at approximately 12:45. First on the list numerically, Foti has appeared in 45 contests since her freshman round in 2020, scoring 10 career goals and four this season. Madison will be escorted by her parents, Mike and Irene Foti, as well as her siblings Mia and Austion. The New Jersey native is a Psychology major and plans to attend grad school to pursue a career in Clinical Mental Health Counseling.
- Hailing from Austin, Texas, Hofmeister has secured four goals in 27 appearances with the Blue Hose, starting a career-high five games as a senior. Tayler will be escorted by her parents, Tom and Donna, alongside siblings Jordan, Lydia, and Owen. Hofmeister will soon graduate with a degree in Business Administration, not to mention a concentration in Accounting & Management and a minor in Political Science. She will intern this summer with Price, Waterhouse and Cooper, before going on to the University of Texas studying for a masters in Public Accounting.
- Gacek rolls into her final regular season contest with 118 groundball recoveries over a five-year collegiate career, just two away from reaching fourth place in PC history across that category. The Syracuse native has registered 52 caused turnovers and 20 draw control victories throughout her time with the Blue Hose, never not starting in all 71 games of which she's featured. Gacek will be joined by her parents, Jim and Kim, as well as her grandmother Jocelyn. Paige will graduate from Presbyterian with a double major of Psychology and History with a minor in Sociology, planning to return to New York once her playing career has finished to teach high school and coach lacrosse.
- Appearing in 25 games over three years with the program, French has started three bouts each of the past two seasons and has caused six takeaways beside the same number of groundball pickups. French will be accompanied by her parents, Jane and Dean, along with her brother Joe. Emily has earned her degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Management, planning to travel before entering the workforce in the business field.
- Starting 36 consecutive contests dating back to 2021, Goldfarb has amassed 68 groundball recoveries and 38 caused turnovers, tallying her first career assist as a primary defender during her junior campaign. Garnering a Big South Presidential Honor Roll selection in all three seasons as a Blue Hose, Kendall will be escorted by her parents, Brett and Edith, along with her sisters Madison and Breanne. She will receive a degree from PC in Early Childhood Education with an elementary add-on, planning to return to her own elementary school in Longwood, Fla. as a teacher.
- Producing seven goals and eight points since 2020 next to 43 appearances, Sullinger recorded her first assist of the campaign on the road against Queens. She will be accompanied by her parents, Kristin and Gary Sullinger, and sisters Grace and Ella, along with her grandmother Dor Hendershot. Sophie will receive her degree from Presbyterian in the form of a Bachelor of Science in Psychology, and a Bachelor of Arts in English with a concentration in Creative Writing.
- Ward approaches her final home matchup affiliated with the Blue Hose holding 48 appearances and a career-best six starting nods in 2023. Landing 10 career goals – six of which have occurred this spring – and 11 total points, Ava has collected 45 groundballs, won 12 draw controls, and disrupted the opponent 14 times for a takeaway. She will be escorted by her parents, David and JoAnne, and will receive her PC degree in Religion and Philosophy. Ward will spend next year pursuing her graduate diploma in education while competing for the Wilkes Lacrosse team.
- Presbyterian's final senior to be recognized over the weekend, Tomas has been penciled in as a starter in all but five of her 50 appearances, resulting in 76 groundball recoveries, 19 draw control wins, and 31 caused turnovers as a defender. Hailing from Acworth, Ga., Taryn has scored two goals and posted three points, to be escorted by her parents, Connie and Brian, beside her brother Trent. Tomas is a Political Science major with minors in Pre-Law and Business Administration, planning to attend Stetson University next year to pursue an MBA before advancing to Law School.
