CLINTON, S.C. – Forced to endure a two-week drought of home contests, the Presbyterian College women's soccer team will end that road-heavy sequence this weekend for the first of back-to-back battles at Martin Stadium. The Panthers of High Point will stand in PC's way on the final day of September, embarking on a 2:00 PM first touch tomorrow.
Head coach
Brian Purcell's unit will look to make it two in a row against HPU after claiming a 2-1 victory on the last day that the pair intertwined in 2022, aiming to start fresh after a losing effort at UNC Asheville 48 hours ago.
Saturday's meeting – which is the first of a Presbyterian double-header, witnessing the men's soccer squad gear up versus Gardner-Webb later in the afternoon – will be Alumni Day at Martin Stadium. All former Blue Hose student-athletes are encouraged to attend and will be recognized during halftime festivities.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
- Bouncing around between wins, losses, and ties as the Panthers' non-conference layout drew to a close, High Point has recently vamped up the offense considerably. Two weeks back, HPU earned a 2-2 deadlock at Atlantic Coast Conference representative NC State (a matchup in which they found themselves ahead with 14 minutes to go), pivoting that result into a 3-2 victory over Winthrop in the Big South opener.
- High Point was unsuccessful in their pursuit of a second league W in as many tries on Wednesday, settling for another tie versus Radford (the same opponent that PC started off Big South action against in a 3-1 defeat).
- Commotion ensued as the duel crept toward the halftime break, with the Panthers hitting first at 41:26 only to be answered with just 16 seconds left until the first-period horn.
- Neither side could account for the game-winner over the final frame, bringing HPU to Clinton with a road resume of 2-2-2. Away from home, head coach Aaron McGuiness' roster has obtained wins over UNC Greensboro and UMBC (both by a 1-0 clip).
LAST TIME OUT
- Despite some early promise thanks to the third goal of the campaign for second-year midfielder
Lindsey Malyszek, the Blue Hose faltered against UNCA as the bout entered its later stages and succumbed to a 4-0 run from the Bulldogs.
- After earning a 1-1 tie with a penalty kick cash-in during the opening period, Asheville secured three scores all within 13 minutes of each other to mold sizable distance. The all-time series between PC and the Bulldogs kept up its recent trajectory, with the home side winning the past seven encounters.
- Saturday's face-off with High Point will denote Presby's first appearance at home since Senior Night back on September 14, a first-time-ever meeting with Western Carolina that saw
Mackenzie Azuero,
Caitlin Murphy,
Mia Prieto,
Reyna Coston, and
Kali Zmistowski honored prior to first touch for their four-year contributions to the program.
