CLINTON, S.C. – One of just three teams in the Big South Conference without a loss against a league opponent, the Presbyterian College women's soccer team will aim to keep their momentum going in a special Friday night matchup against Winthrop at Martin Stadium.
The Blue Hose will go head-to-head with the Eagles at 7:00 PM tomorrow night, putting on the Kim Purcell / Breast Cancer and Cancer Vaccine Awareness Game.
Scoring five goals in their last two matches to begin conference play, Presbyterian hopes to keep pace with High Point and Charleston Southern as the other unbeatens in the Big South to this point.
Each side has won two over the past four meetings between PC and their Rock Hill nemesis, with the 2022 and 2023 results both ending at 1-0. The Blue Hose have beaten Winthrop only once in Clinton, a 3-1 decision four years back.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
- In contrast to head coach
Matt Smith's club, who is currently near the top of the Big South ladder, Winthrop is still aspiring for their first conference W following a tie with Longwood and a couple of defeats against CSU and HPU.
- Eight of the Eagles' 10 matches thus far have seen them score only one goal or be held to zero, outscored by a combined clip of 10-2 since mid-September.
- Led by Spencer Smith in his 15
th season at the helm, all of Winthrop's wins in '24 have come via shutout. They bested Southern Wesleyan, South Carolina State, and VMI but have been outgunned in the scoring department 17-8 collectively.
LAST TIME OUT
- Made to wait an extra three days for their second conference duel after Hurricane Helene altered the schedule, PC returned to the pitch with a vengeance as they hammered Gardner-Webb last weekend 3-1.
- Trending towards a possible scoreless tie at the half, the Blue Hose walloped the Runnin' Bulldogs with two goals in less than three minutes. They'd later push the advantage to 3-0 at the 62:01 mark, giving up the only G-W score with a penalty kick once the contest had already gotten out of hand.
- Senior keeper
Kelly Hall gobbled up seven more saves in the one-sided victory, reaching her 10
th personal win in the process. She needs just one more W to move into a tie for third place in PC's Division I record book (since 2007).
- Ten different Presbyterian players have tallied at least one goal this season, the highest number for the program since the 2018 roster conjured up 11.
LASOTA LIVING LARGE
- Without a doubt, junior
Isabel Lasota summoned her best career performance in the Gardner-Webb beatdown, contributing to all of PC's goals by scoring two herself and adding an assist for extra oomph.
- That's the first time in six seasons that a Blue Hose player recorded five points in a single match, named to the TopDrawer Soccer National Team of the Week (Honorable Mention).
- She was selected by the Big South as the league's Offensive Player of the Week, the third time this year that coach Smith's squad has been chosen for a weekly award.
