FARMVILLE, Va. – The Presbyterian College women's soccer team can claim something they haven't been able to since 2019: a berth in the Big South Tournament. Earning the fifth seed in the six-team bracket, they'll travel to #4 Longwood for the second time in 14 days for the Conference Quarterfinal round.
First touch in the Commonwealth State is labeled for 7:00 PM tomorrow, as the Blue Hose and first-year head coach
Matt Smith look to make history and give PC their first-ever postseason win under the Big South umbrella.
Presbyterian's other two ventures in the league tourney have ended with one-goal defeats, hoping to buck that trend against an opponent who they tangled to a scoreless tie back on October 19.
ESPN+ will have the broadcast in PC's postseason return, competing in November for the first time in five years.

LAST TIME AGAINST THE LANCERS
- Reconfiguring the offense at the time due to a slew of injuries, the Blue Hose held their own on the back line when they faced Longwood a couple weeks ago, not letting any of their 12 shots pass through and settling for a nil-nil draw.
- Due to the final result being a tie, PC has still yet to defeat the Lancers on the road in seven attempts. That earlier meeting this fall was the third time that the Scotsmen have tied Longwood when playing in Farmville.
- Senior keeper
Kelly Hall matched the program record (D-I era) for most career shutouts when the dust had settled from round one against the Lancers. She went on to break that record in the very next match, a 2-0 win over UNC Asheville which was her 10
th clean sheet.
- Presbyterian earned their third shutout of '24 in the Longwood visit, an affair that featured 19 combined shots and two stellar efforts by Hall and Lancer goalie Sara Curtis (11 saves put together).
ALL-CONFERENCE ACCOLADES
- 24 hours ago, the Blue Hose accomplished another program-first in a season full of improvement, placing five different All-Big South players for the first time in school history.
- Junior forward
Sloan Spees became the second person in PC's Division I era to be named all-conference in three separate seasons, named to the All-Big South Second Team alongside senior defender
Gwen Keiser and midfielder
Ella Williams.
- Additionally, rookie
Cassidy Oldham ensured that there would be a Blue Hose on the all-league freshman team for the third year in a row, while Hall was the school's representative on the Big South All-Academic team yet again.
- Hall was listed as an "Honorable Mention" performer by the league yesterday, punctuating a career where she is the all-time D-I PC leader in goals-against average (1.66). Her .830 save percentage is the best among any of the nine Big South starters this year.
BIG SOUTH CHAMPIONSHIP HISTORY
- In both of Presby's previous conference tournament tickets, the bracket was a bit larger and they held the #7 seed on both occasions. Their Big South tournament debut came in 2013, coming oh-so-close to upsetting No. 2 Liberty in a 1-0 defeat.
- The lone goal for the Flames on that day came just before halftime (42:43), the only time they hit the back of the net despite 20 shots.
- PC's last appearance in the Big South Championship was against #2 Campbell in 2019, a 3-2 heartbreaker that was decided in overtime.
- After Morgan Hutchison and Kori Lawrence produced back-to-back goals 14 minutes apart to put the Blue Hose in front 2-1, the Fighting Camels would send the match to an extra period at 67:21.
- The golden goal was submitted less than five minutes into overtime, another near-upset from the Blue Hose that fell just shy of completion.
