LAST TIME OUT
The Blue Hose took a much-needed victory over the Radford Highlanders on Saturday, February 10 here at Templeton Gymnasium. After falling to them earlier in the season, PC stepped up as a team and played a solid game of basketball to earn the win. After a rough start the Blue Hose were trailing 9-0 about halfway through the first quarter. The team was able to get back into it, going on a 20-point rally starting in the third quarter. This momentum stuck with the team and helped them achieve a 57-50 win over the Highlanders.
 
SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS
UNC Asheville has a 3-8 conference record with wins over Longwood, Charleston Southern, and Gardner-Webb. The Bulldogs average 59.3 points per game and 38.1 rebounds per game. Redshirt senior guard McKinley Brooks-Sumpter leads the team with 13.7 ppg, 7.0 rpg, and a 39.7 FG%. Junior guard Lalmani Simmons averages 11.3 ppg while shooting 39.8% from the field and 29.7% from range.
 
BLUE HOSE DOUBLE FIGURE SCORERS
Over their first 26 games, Presbyterian has had nine different players who have scored in double-figures. Brady (18 times), Sjökvist (17 times), Neira (12 times), Herrin (four times), Kierscht (three times), Cunill (three times), Kindseth (twice), Kline (twice), and Carrillo (once) have all tallied double-digit scoring games this season.
 
PRESBYTERIAN – UNC ASHEVILLE SERIES
Wednesday marks the 35th time that these two teams have met since Presbyterian joined Division I in 2007. The first time that these two teams met was in the 2007-08 season where the Bulldogs won 87-54. We saw these teams play earlier in the season where the Blue Hose won 55-46. The all-time series between the two teams is tied with a 17-17 record.

As a team, Presbyterian leads the conference with 13.3 assists per game and a +2.7-rebounding margin. The team is also ranked second for shooting at 39.9% from the field and with a 0.7 assist to turnover ratio. Individually, the Blue Hose have three players who are ranked in the top 10 in scoring Brady is ranked seventh for her 12.4 ppg, Neira is in eighth for her with 12.0 ppg, and Sjokvist is listed at ninth with 12.0 ppg. Sjokvist is also ranked third for averaging 3.4 apg and sixth for her 1.7 three-point field goals per game. Neira is currently second in the Big South with an average of 2.4 three-point field goals per game.
 
THE 1000 POINT CLUB
On Wednesday, January 10 Presbyterian beat the Winthrop Eagles with a score of 59-43. With 2:05 left in this game junior Mara Neira scored a three-point shot which was the 1000th point of her collegiate career. Later in the season the Blue Hose hosted the High Point Panthers for the team's breast cancer awareness game. Sixth year center Bryanna Brady scored her 1000th career point with 2:45 left in the game.
 
BIG SOUTH WEEKLY AWARDS
Presbyterian beat the Columbia College Koalas 62-53 on Sunday, December 31. Brady scored a new season-high of 27 points while shooting 73.3% (11-of-15) from the field. She also shot 62.5% (5-of-8) from the free throw line and dished out two assists. Defensively, Brady helped the team hold the Koalas to no points for almost 11 minutes in the second half. She added four rebounds and a block to her efforts. This is the second time that Brady earned this award and the fourth Big South Player of the Week award that the Blue Hose have received so far this season.
