SCOUTING THE OPPONENT – SOUTHERN NEW HAMPSHIRE
- A member of the Northeast 10 Conference from the NCAA's Division II market, Southern New Hampshire is coincidentally making preparations for their first home encounter of the season when the Blue Hose come knocking.
- The Penmen have calculated 18 total victories over the prior two seasons at nine wins apiece, registering nearly 18 goals per game in what's already been a tough stretch for head coach Carissa Medeiros in her third go-around.
- SNHU has stayed right with their last three opponents (all of which are inside the D-II top 20), just falling short in appearances opposite #7 Rollins, #11 Embry-Riddle, and #15 New Haven. All of those duels leaned heavy into the offensive side of the field, including their most recent match where they lined up six scores in the 2
nd period and five more in the 4
th only to take a two-point L.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT – CENTRAL CONNECTICUT
- In what will be PC's third all-time visit to New Britain to do battle with the Blue Devils (but the first time they've made this specific trip since head coach
Eric Clakeley took over), Presby will square up with a CCSU unit that has been rather inconsistent in 2024.
- Yet to score better than nine points in any of their four defeats approaching a Saturday feature at Wagner, Central Connecticut's lone W thus far came over MEAC adversary Howard back on March 6 by a 14-4 differential.
- Head coach Betsy Vendel is in the midst of her sixth season with the Blue Devils, dropping one-sided contests to mutual foe Rider (14 points), Lafayette (10 points), and Yale (15 points) in their last occasion hitting the field.
LAST TIME OUT
- Presbyterian's ultra-busy midweek has since come and gone, serving as the hosting party for three consecutive clashes all within a five-day span. UMass Lowell, Akron, and Rider all came to Bailey Memorial Stadium in quick succession, lending mixed results for the Blue Hose.
- During a Saturday downpour against an undefeated River Hawks club, PC was on the wrong end of a 15-4 decision before taking a 14-2 loss against the Zips just 48 hours later. The offense metaphorically resurrected in a Wednesday skirmish with the Broncs, however it was Rider who prevailed by an 18-10 tally.
- Coach Clakeley's roster witnessed four multi-goal efforts in the hump day setback, never trailing at any point in the first 30 minutes before the 5-1 visitors created separation from that point.
- Usual suspects
Abby Edmisten and
Willow Hammond have combined for 16 strikes this season at eight each, while freshman
Kaylie Rittmueller has put together seven of her own already.
Brooke Chandler,
Alyssa Perez, and senior
Kylie Sullivan have each put five in the back of the net, while second-year defender
Avery West leads the way in both ground balls (17) and caused turnovers (11).
