CLINTON, S.C. – The Presbyterian College lacrosse team's month-long absence from Bailey Memorial Stadium will be amended three times within a five-day window, beginning with a Saturday meeting versus UMass Lowell. Head coach
Eric Clakeley's squad will welcome the River Hawks for a noon start time tomorrow, gearing up for additional affairs on Monday and Wednesday.
Still searching for their first victory of 2024, having last competed in a narrow defeat at Xavier in late February, the Blue Hose will prepare for Akron and Rider with only a day of rest in between each of their next three events.
UMass Lowell offers up perhaps the largest challenge of the incoming trio, possessing a perfect 7-0 mark thus far while winning three consecutive road clashes.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENT – UMASS LOWELL
- One of only eight programs left in Division I with zero losses next to their name, the River Hawks will make their inaugural trip to PC as the nation's only unbeaten team to have already conjured up seven victories.
- Producing at least 11 goals in every outing while earning an average scoring margin of plus-seven, head coach Lisa Miller's unit is firing on all cylinders following a 21-2 dissection of fellow Big South rep Gardner-Webb on Wednesday (their widest point differential of the semester).
- Already surpassing triple digits in total goals (108), the River Hawks have lined up nearly 75 percent of their shot attempts on-target. Junior Jade Catlin and freshman Chloe Bowers have added up for 41 strikes and seven assists, not to be outdone by Jillian Goldie's 23 points (15 goals, eight helpers) as a rookie.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT – AKRON
- The victims of a one-point defeat at Presbyterian's hands last spring in Ohio, the Zips aim to even the schools' all-time series record at two apiece once they go head-to-head with Gardner-Webb over the weekend.
- Akron and first-year head coach Elaine Jones are no strangers to late-game dramatics, gathering both of their W's in close quarters over St. Bonaventure (15-12) and Xavier (11-10).
- Prior to their bout with the Runnin' Bulldogs, Akron was last seen taking a 15-7 loss at Lindenwood two days ago, mustering nine goals per game which coincidentally was the same number they landed on in the aforementioned falter against Presby 12 months ago (a day where
Willow Hammond and
Abby Edmisten kept the Zips at bay with respective 4
th-period connections).
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT – RIDER
- Sharing the same backstory to UMass Lowell until the Oregon Ducks stymied a 4-0 start for the Broncs last week, Rider seized three straight wins by at least six points with an additional 12-10 triumph against Monmouth to begin the campaign sizzling.
- Head coach Evan Mager's club will return to the field on Sunday to face off with Old Dominion on their home turf of Lawrenceville, New Jersey, tangling with the Blue Hose for the very first time next week.
- The Broncs have seen an assist on 35 of their 76 successful swings, scattering 31 goals combined from the duo of Kylee Garcia and Katie Walsh.
LAST TIME OUT
- Although a mid-match 9-2 flurry erased a five-goal deficit and put the Blue Hose in the driving seat during their visit to Xavier, Presbyterian was unable to sustain that momentum and eventually fell to the Musketeers by a 15-11 clip in their most recent showing.
- Beginning with 47 seconds on the clock in the 3
rd (which denied PC a chance at a scoreless period from a defensive perspective), Xavier logged a 7-0 run to wrestle the game's control back in their favor.
- To virtually no one's surprise, fifth-year star Edmisten leads the way for Clakeley's gang in the scoring department by hitting the back of the net six times. Hammond and newbie
Kaylie Rittmueller sit just behind the super-senior with five notches apiece.
- By registering her 135
th career goal with 19 seconds to go in the Xavier affair, Edmisten needs just one more to become PC's all-time leader in that category. The Georgia native is already the school's # 1 point-getter overall, holding 168 and counting.
