BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – The Presbyterian College lacrosse team has reached the halfway point of the 2024 Big South Conference schedule, bringing them to a Saturday scuffle with Gardner-Webb on Saturday. Opening draw with the Runnin' Bulldogs will occur at 1:00 PM.
In a bout where both clubs will be aiming to get on the board in league action, the event will be streamed live on ESPN+.
Having both been felled by divisional powerhouse High Point in their respective recent meetings, the Blue Hose will put forth a revenge mission against G-W after taking a thin defeat at Bailey Memorial Stadium last season by a sole score.
After the Runnin' Bulldogs managed a tie-breaking swing with just under two minutes on the clock, PC lined up a free-position attempt with 28 seconds left only for Gardner-Webb to stifle the shot and escape with a 13-12 stunner.
G-W has won the last six contests versus Presby, edging out the Blue Hose four times in the past by only one goal.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
- One of three teams in the nation yet to pick up a win outright following a 3-6 Big South mark last spring, Gardner-Webb's struggling offense has produced a double-digit number of goals only twice in 13 matchups, a feat that hasn't happened since February 25.
- The Runnin' Bulldogs share six mutual opponents with the Blue Hose, including three league members who have all gotten the better of G-W (Furman by 12, Mercer by 22, and HPU by 14).
- Kathleen Mirgon Crum was tasked with leading Gardner-Webb over the offseason and is in the midst of her debut year in charge, unable to find a home victory in seven tries.
- Outscored by a grand total of 171 goals since the season's start, the Runnin' Bulldogs are carried offensively by senior Aimie Perino who has mustered 21 strikes.
LAST TIME OUT
- It was a game to forget for Presbyterian when they locked up with High Point on Wednesday, dropping a 21-4 decision on an evening where the Panthers accumulated 11 first-period connections.
- After hoisting a season-best 13 goals in a tight loss to Longwood on their home base, the Blue Hose were given a tough draw by battling Furman and HPU back-to-back, setting them up for a two/two divide of home and away meetings the rest of the way.
- Hoping for a final push to dig from underneath and qualify for the Big South Tournament, head coach
Eric Clakeley's team has logged 93 goals on the year beside a .659 shot-on-goal ratio.
-
Willow Hammond and
Abby Edmisten have been a two-headed beast for the Scotsmen with 44 combined points (35 goals, nine assists), scoring 10 times between them in league play.
- In fact, it was Edmisten who exploded against G-W last April in Clinton, hitting the back of the next six times despite the end result. That performance was one of 16 for the super-senior with at least four scores, already the program's all-time leader in total points (181 and counting).
