BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Presbyterian College women's tennis team is set to play three matches in three days in Birmingham Alabama from Friday, January 24 to Sunday, January 26. The Blue Hose will take on The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), Jacksonville State, and Samford before returning home to Clinton.

SCOUTING THE BLAZERS
- UAB began their 2025 spring slate with a match against No. 12 Auburn, falling 6-1.
- Last year, the team took a 13-11 mark with a 1-2 tally against conference opponents.
- Senior Vanessa Mellynchuk is the team's leading returner in single, recording a 17-8 record last spring.
- Mellynchuk also led the team in doubles with a 17-9 tally, pairing up with senior Mackenzie White in 23 of those matches.

SCOUTING THE GAMECOCKS
- Jacksonville State opens their spring schedule in Birmingham with a match against Samford on Friday before taking on the Blue Hose the following day.
- Last season, Jax State recorded a 12-8 mark and defeated Middle Tennessee State in the first round of the Conference USA Tournament.
- Junior Irene Artigas led the team in singles last season with a 12-4 record.
- Artigas also earned the best doubles tally on the team, going 11-6, competing with four different teammates.
SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS
- Samford has already played two matches this season, picking up a 4-1 win over Bellarmine and losing 4-0 to Mississippi State.
- Sophomore Margaret Jaraczewski and senior Emily Surcey led the Bulldogs in singles last year, both picking up 12 wins.
- Sophomore Grace Keller took the best doubles record of Samford's roster with an 11-9 tally. Keller mainly competed with Surcey in doubles with the duo taking a 9-8 record.
A LOOK AT THE BLUE HOSE
Presbyterian was picked fourth in the Big South's annual preseason poll after returning five letterwinners from last year's squad and taking in four newcomers to the roster. Last spring, the Blue Hose won 46.3 percent of their total singles matches and 58.6 of their doubles matches. JuniorÂ
Claudia Sanchez led the team in singles with a 13-6 record including a 4-1 tally against league opponents.Â
McKenzie Davis was not far behind with an 11-9 mark. Sanchez teamed up withÂ
Valentina De Sousa in a majority of doubles matches last season where they earned an 8-4 record with a 3-2 mark in conference play. Sanchez, Davis, and De Sousa will all be competing this spring.
SPRING SLATE
Sixth year head coachÂ
Joel Roberts and the Blue Hose women's tennis team will compete in 22 matches throughout the spring, seven of which will be played here in Clinton at the Templeton Tennis Courts. In league play, PC will host UNC Asheville on April 2 and Radford on April 12.
