Women’s Hoops Central: Presbyterian vs. Seattle

MIAMI, Fla. – The Presbyterian College Blue Hose women's basketball team will face Seattle for the first time in the FIU Thanksgiving Classic on Friday afternoon (Nov. 28) at 1:30 p.m.



This is the third straight season that PC has played in a non-conference holiday tournament. Last season, Presbyterian competed in the Puerto Rico Clasico Tournament. The previous year, the Blue Hose were a part of the Las Vegas Tournament.

LAST TIME OUT
Presbyterian dropped its second straight on Monday evening (Nov. 24), falling to Coastal Carolina 87-38. The Chanticleers turned the Blue Hose over 37 times on the night, scoring 40 points off of turnovers for the game. Aminata Tal led Presbyterian in scoring for the fourth time this season, tallying 12 points. Morgan Boyd pitched in 9 points and 9 boards for PC. 

 

Laetitia Kamdoum made her first career start for the Blue Hose and grabbed a career-high 8 rebounds. For the game, Presbyterian outrebounded the Chanticleers 42-37. So far this season, the Blue Hose are 0-5 away from home.

 


BLUE HOSE BY THE NUMBERS
Aminata Tal leads PC in scoring going into the FIU Thanksgiving Classic, averaging 11.7 points per game. She has started the last four games for PC and is shooting 45.3 percent from the field to lead the team. Ja'Cia Cunningham is PC's second-leading scorer at 10.8 points per game. She has been prolific from the three-point line for the Blue Hose on the season, shooting 40 percent from three. Allie Sykes has also been hot from three, shooting 41 percent to lead the team from beyond the arc. On the season, she is PC's fourth leading scorer at 8.6 points per game in three starts. She has also been Presbyterian's best free throw shooter, making 8 of her 9 attempts this season.

 

Morgan Boyd is the only player to start all seven games so far this season for the Blue Hose. She leads the team in rebounding, averaging 5.7 per game. Ore Ogunwolere leads the Blue Hose in assists and steals. She has 20 assists and 14 steals so far this season. Finally, Krystal Haddock leads the Blue Hose in minutes played per game and blocks, averaging 26 minutes per game to go along with four blocked shots.

 


SCOUTING THE REDHAWKS
Seattle enters Friday's game in Miami having lost its most recent game at Boise State 86-65 last Friday (Nov. 21). Prior to that, the Redhawks picked up a narrow victory over Cal Poly 75-73. Ella Brubakers leads Seattle in scoring, averaging 13.2 points per game. She is 40 percent from the field and 85.7 percent from the free throw line. Tamia Stricklin leads the Redhawks in rebounding at 6.8 boards per game. Finally, Jana Vesic leads Seattle in minutes played and assists. Last season, Seattle finished with s 4-26 overall record and a 1-15 mark in the WAC. This year, the Redhawks compete in the WCC. Head coach Skyler Young is in his third season in Seattle.

 


PRESBYTERIAN – SEATTLE ALL-TIME SERIES
This will be the first ever meeting between Seattle and Presbyterian.

 


NEWCOMERS FOR THE BLUE HOSE
Joining the Blue Hose this season are nine newcomers (four transfers and five freshmen). The transfers for Coach Sardin are Ore Ogunwolere, Ja'Cia Cunningham, Krystal Haddock, and Laetitia Kamdoum.

Freshmen Aretha Linger, Yolanda Floyd, Allie Sykes, Samantha Mullock, and Amani Williams also join the Blue Hose. This is the most freshmen the Blue Hose have had on the roster since the 2022-23 season (also five).

 

 

RETURNERS
The Blue Hose return four from last year's roster. Seniors Shelby Fiddler (6.6 ppg, 2.1 rpg) and Aminata Tal (6.7 ppg, 2.1 rpg) lead the returners for PC. Sophomores Morgan Boyd (2.4 ppg, 2.1 rpg), and Daniella Velez (2.8 ppg, 2.6 rpg) also are back for the Blue Hose this season. 

 


THE 2025-26 NON-CONFERENCE SLATE
Presbyterian's non-conference lineup includes five home contests and six road games, featuring a notable road matchup against ACC opponent Virginia Tech on Dec. 10. The Blue Hose have one remaining trip on the road to Furman on Dec. 3.


PC's remaining home non-conference schedule includes Eastern Kentucky on Dec. 19, and Jacksonville State on Dec. 21.
 

 


BIG SOUTH SCHEDULE
Conference play begins December 31 for the Blue Hose, with PC set to take on each of its eight Big South opponents twice in a balanced home-and-away schedule.


At Templeton, PC will face Radford on Dec. 31, High Point on Jan. 7, UNC Asheville on Jan. 17, Charleston Southern on Jan. 24, USC Upstate on Feb. 4, Gardner-Webb on Feb. 14, Winthrop on Feb. 18, and Longwood on Feb. 28.


On the road, the Blue Hose will take on Longwood on Jan. 3, USC Upstate on Jan. 14, Gardner-Webb on Jan. 21, Winthrop on Jan. 28, High Point on Jan. 31, Charleston Southern on Feb. 7, UNC Asheville on Feb. 21, and Radford on Feb. 25.



LAST SEASON
The Blue Hose finished with a 6-24 record and a 4-12 mark in the Big South in the first season of head coach Tiffany Sardin. In league play, the Blue Hose picked up back-to-back wins against USC Upstate on Jan. 8 and UNC Asheville on Jan. 11. Later in the season, the Blue Hose delivered a road win at Radford, taking down the Highlanders 78-71. In non-conference action, Presbyterian picked up wins against NC Central and Newberry.
