CLINTON, S.C. – Presbyterian College softball head coach
David Williams has formally announced the upcoming 2026 schedule ahead of his eighth season at the helm. PC begins the campaign on Friday, February 6 and is anticipating a 54-game slate in total.
The longest-tenured and winningest head coach of the Division I era at Presbyterian, Williams will have the luxury of 11 consecutive home games to begin the season. PC is set to play 25 contests on their home turf, including three Big South series.
Five schools who qualified for the 2025 NCAA Tournament will clash with the Blue Hose next year, including the ACC's Clemson Tigers who advanced to the Super Regionals as well as Mercer and North Florida who progressed to the Regional Finals.
"We are very excited about our upcoming season and the schedule we've assembled", commented Williams, who has won 139 games at PC since arriving in 2019. "Our main goal is to put ourselves in contention for a conference title, and we feel this schedule gives us that opportunity."
The Scotsmen posted a 21-29 overall record last spring, highlighted by a two-games-to-one series victory versus eventual Big South champion USC Upstate.
FEBRUARY
- PC will serve as the hosting party for a multi-team tournament in back-to-back weekends to get the season underway. They'll meet Le Moyne, Western Michigan (twice), Dayton, and Morehead State in the Blue Hose Invitational from February 6-8.
- Five more meetings will be held the following weekend at the Scotsman Invitational, seeing William's crew go up against Mercyhurst and ETSU twice each along with a solo matchup against UAlbany.
- Presby finishes their 11-game homestand on February 18 for a single affair with Wofford, the same team that they walked off 2-1 when they last visited Clinton a year ago.
- PC will make their first road trip of the campaign on February 20, going to the site of conference mate Winthrop for a quartet of neutral games with Drexel and George Washington.
- After returning home for a midweek doubleheader against former Big South member North Carolina A&T, the Blue Hose will head to Georgia for another round robin tournament in Macon.
- There, they'll compete with Columbia and Mercer twice each along with an individual outing opposite Tennessee State. That weekend bleeds into the month of March.
MARCH
- The non-conference trudge continues for PC on the 3
rd day of the new month, welcoming Queens for a Tuesday two-parter. From there, Williams will take his squad to Jacksonville for one last regular-season tourney.
- From March 6-8, Presbyterian will clash with Georgia Southern twice, Jacksonville, the reigning ASUN champion North Florida, and last year's Ivy League champion Brown.
- PC's last non-conference date before league action starts will be on March 10, headed to Western Carolina for another DH.
- The Big South schedule opens up on the 13
th and 14
th, as the Blue Hose will entertain Winthrop in the first of six conference series overall. On the 18
th, PC goes to Spartanburg for the return game at Wofford.
- PC will dip in and out of league territory for the rest of the season, traveling to Radford on the 27
th and 28
th for the second Big South matchup of the campaign.
APRIL
- Presbyterian's last non-conference home game will be on April Fool's Day against College of Charleston, a school who they defeated in extra innings the last time they butted heads.
- They'll remain at the PC Softball Complex on April 3 and 4 for a league encounter with Longwood. Greenville will be the next stop once that weekend is complete, visiting Furman for a Tuesday twinbill.
- Coach Williams' gang will engage in two straight Big South series down the back half of the conference schedule, facing Gardner-Webb on the road and coming home one last time to meet Charleston Southern on April 17 and 18.
- PC links up with Clemson on Tuesday, April 21 for a 6:00 first pitch. They've faced the Tigers just once all-time (back in 2020), serving as their first matchup against an ACC school since an NC State doubleheader two years ago.
MAY + POSTSEASON
- The Palmetto rivalry between Presbyterian and USC Upstate will also be the regular-season finale in 2026, primed for the first two days of May. The Blue Hose downed the Spartans consecutively last season in two decidedly different outcomes, 8-6 and 2-1.
- Coincidentally, Upstate will also be hosting the Big South Tournament next spring, scheduled from May 6-9 at Cyrill Softball Stadium.
- PC aims to get back in the postseason picture for the first time since 2022, as only the top five schools in the seven-team conference will be allowed entry into the tournament.
- The winner of the Big South Championship will receive an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament, entering the field of 64 in pursuit of a national title.
