LAST TIME OUT
The Blue Hose dropped their final non-conference game of the year to Jacksonville State 74-39 at the Templeton Center on Dec. 21.
Aretha Linger led the Blue Hose with 12 points to go along with two steals and a blocked shot. This is the second time this season that Linger has scored in double figures. Morgan Boyd and Ja'Cia Cunningham each logged seven points on the afternoon for PC. Boyd made a career-high two threes as well, giving her five total made threes on the season.
BLUE HOSE BY THE NUMBERS
Senior Aminata Tal leads Presbyterian offensively, scoring 9.8 points per game for the Blue Hose. She ranks in the top 20 of the Big South in scoring. She leads the team in made field goals on the year (50) and is third on the team in field goal percentage. Senior Ja'Cia Cunningham is the second-leading scorer for Presbyterian, entering Wednesday's game averaging 9.6 points per contest in 12 games. She made her first start of the season in PC's last outing against Jacksonville State. She ranks inside the top 20 of the conference as well in scoring.
Ore Ogunwolere powers the Blue Hose in several different statistical categories in her first season with PC. On the year, she leads the team in field goal percentage (42.1 percent), assists (31), steals (19), and minutes played (319). She rests inside of the top 15 of the league in both assists and steals (T-10th in assists).
Freshman Allie Sykes paces the team from both the three-point line and free throw line so far this season. She has made 21 of her 52 three-point attempts while also shooting 88.9 percent from the charity stripe. Her 21 made threes rank 12th in the league.
Sophomore Morgan Boyd is the only player to start all 13 games for the Blue Hose. She leads the team in rebounding, averaging 4.7 rebounds per game. She is also second on the team in minutes played, playing a total of 317 minutes.
Freshman Aretha Linger leads the team in blocked shots (9) and is second on the team in rebounding, averaging 4.3 rebounds per game. Her four blocked shots against Eastern Kentucky on Dec. 19 are tied for the most by any player in the Big South this season.
CLEANING UP THE OFFENSIVE GLASS
As a team, the Blue Hose rank as one of the most prolific offensive rebounding teams in the Big South. Through 13 games, the Blue Hose sit in third in the conference in offensive rebounds per game, averaging 13.5. Linger powers the team on the offensive glass, recording 19 offensive rebounds.
Presbyterian also ranks fifth in the league in both offensive rebounding percentage and defensive rebounding percentage.
SCOUTING THE HIGHLANDERS
Radford comes into conference play with an 8-7 overall record. The Highlanders dropped their most recent game on the road at Virginia Tech 79-47 on Dec. 21. Joi Williams paces the Highlanders offensively, ranking ninth in the league in scoring with 12.3 points per game. Georgia Simonsen leads the team in rebounding, averaging 6 rebounds per game. She has earned Big South Freshman of the Week honors twice this season. As a team, Radford is third in the conference in scoring defense, giving up just 63.5 points per game. They are also second in the league in rebounding, grabbing 41 boards per game. Head coach Mike McGuire is in his thirteenth season at the helm for the Highlanders.
PRESBYTERIAN – RADFORD ALL-TIME SERIES
The Highlanders lead the all-time series with the Blue Hose 28-12. Last season, PC erased a nine-point halftime deficit on the road, outscoring Radford 50-34 to comeback to win 78-71. While the Highlanders took the first matchup last year in Clinton, the Blue Hose come into Wednesday having won three of the past four meetings.
BLUE HOSE ROSTER
Joining the Blue Hose this season are nine newcomers (four transfers and five freshmen). The transfers for Coach Sardin are Ore Ogunwolere (Union College), Ja'Cia Cunningham (Chicago State), Krystal Haddock (Tennessee State), and Laetitia Kamdoum (Cochise College).
Freshmen Aretha Linger, Yolanda Floyd, Allie Sykes, Samantha Mullock, and Amani Williams also join the Blue Hose. This is the most freshmen the Blue Hose have had on the roster since the 2022-23 season (also five).
The Blue Hose also return four from last year's roster. Seniors Shelby Fiddler and Aminata Tal lead the returners for PC. Sophomores Morgan Boyd and Daniella Velez also are back for the Blue Hose this season.
BIG SOUTH SCHEDULE
Conference play begins December 31 for the Blue Hose, with PC set to take on each of its eight Big South opponents twice in a balanced home-and-away schedule.
At Templeton, PC will face Radford on Dec. 31, High Point on Jan. 7, UNC Asheville on Jan. 17, Charleston Southern on Jan. 24, USC Upstate on Feb. 4, Gardner-Webb on Feb. 14, Winthrop on Feb. 18, and Longwood on Feb. 28.
On the road, the Blue Hose will take on Longwood on Jan. 3, USC Upstate on Jan. 14, Gardner-Webb on Jan. 21, Winthrop on Jan. 28, High Point on Jan. 31, Charleston Southern on Feb. 7, UNC Asheville on Feb. 21, and Radford on Feb. 25.
